Yesterday's EUSPA workshop brought together public authorities, researchers, and actors from the private sector to explore how satellite technologies are drastically changing disaster management. 🛰️ Hosted by the Luxembourg Space Agency, this event is part of a national workshop series launched by the EUSPA - EU Agency for the Space Programme in collaboration with Eurisy, a European network dedicated to promoting the use of space technologies and satellite data in society. The series aims to raise awareness of how EU Space Programme components like Copernicus, Galileo, and GOVSATCOM are improving the way we prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. 🌪️ Participants attended real-world flood management scenarios, learned how satellite services like precise location tracking, secure communications, and Earth monitoring images work together to help authorities protect communities and save lives during emergencies. A live demonstration of Galileo's Emergency Warning Satellite Service (EWSS) showed how alerts can reach mobile phones directly, even in areas without cell tower coverage! 📲 Since 2012, Luxembourg has requested satellite imagery 5 times to support disaster management, with 4 of these requests made during calm periods to help authorities prepare and plan for potential future crises rather than respond to active emergencies. 💫 #SpaceTechnology #DisasterManagement #LuxembourgSpace #EUSPA #Copernicus #Galileo #Innovation #Resilience 📸 PANCAKE! 🚀The LSA was at the 19th ESPI Autumn Conference! LSA has been an ESPI member since 2023 and continues to prioritise international cooperation as fundamental to the space ecosystem development. That is why, it is with great pleasure that we announce the signing of a new bilateral agreement between the Luxembourg Space Agency and the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI)! 🤝 Supporting ESPI is essential to Luxembourg, as their work on space resources, finance and workforce development directly contributes to Luxembourg's positioning within the space industry. We are truly impressed by the ESPI team, who stand out for their skills and motivation as well as their optimism about Europe's future. 💫 Lex Delles, minister of the Economy, SME, Energy & Tourism commented: “Cooperation is at the heart of Luxembourg's space strategy. This agreement with ESPI strengthens our role in shaping European space policy and reflects our ambition to be a driving force in the global space ecosystem. We believe that through shared research, education, and networking, Europe can unlock the full potential of space for the benefit of all” To finish the day, Mathias Link, LSA’s Deputy CEO, discussed on a panel centred around “Innovative and Competitive Europe”, tackling today's most pressing questions regarding the European space industry and the role Luxembourg plays within it. 🌌 #SpacePolicy #EuropeanSpace #ESPI #SpaceCooperation #Innovation Ministry of the Economy Luxembourg

As ESA astronaut Jean-François Clervoy (Officiel) reminded us during the flight briefing, a parabolic flight isn't an imitation of zero gravity, it's in fact exactly what ISS crews experience in orbit, and it's what our space ambassadors experienced yesterday! 🚀 14 young Luxembourgers, selected from 426 candidates through rigorous physical and cognitive tests based on real-life astronaut selection, floated aboard an Airbus A310 operated by Novespace. 🛫 ✨16 parabolas. 20 seconds of pure weightlessness, repeated. ✨ Zero gravity, martian gravity, lunar gravity – they've tested them all alongside Carmen Possnig, Austrian physician and European Space Agency - ESA reserve astronaut, and 26 peers from Austrian and Estonian space agencies. Upon their return to solid ground, Luxembourg's Prime Minister Luc Frieden was present to greet the teenagers in the company of Marc Serres, CEO of the Luxembourg Space Agency, Andreas Geisler, Head of Aeronautics and Space Agency at the FFG Austrian Research Promotion Agency and Dr Karin Proidl, Ambassador of Austria in Luxembourg. The emotion reached its peak as parents and teachers watched their young ones be rewarded with an official certificate attesting to this incredible achievement. Congratulations to all of them for their courage, perseverance and dedication throughout this adventure! 👏 These 14 Space Ambassadors will now represent the Luxembourg space industry to their respective communities and work with the LSA on different events and opportunities with the goal of promoting and spread their passion to the newer generations. 👩🚀 A big thanks to our partners from the Ministry of the Economy Luxembourg, the Ministère des Sports, the Ministère de l'Éducation nationale, de l'Enfance et de la Jeunesse, André Losch Fondation, and Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) as well as our sponsors SES Satellites, Redwire Space Europe, and ClearSpace 🙌 #AFAD2025 #AstronautForADay2025 #astronauttraining #talentdevelopment #spacesector Lara Kalanke Darius Ferent

🚀 Blue Origin and Luxembourg join forces on Oasis-1: a pioneering mission to map lunar resources 🌕 Blue Origin has announced Project Oasis, a multi-phase initiative to identify, assess, and utilize the Moon’s key resources. 🔎 The first mission, Oasis-1, developed in partnership with Luxembourg, will deliver the most detailed maps ever created of lunar water ice, Helium-3, radionuclides, rare earth elements, precious metals, and more. These resources could unlock: ⚡ Hydrogen and oxygen for spacecraft propellant, turning the Moon into an off-world refueling station. 🏗️ In situ production of construction materials and energy systems. 🌍 A sustainable alternative to terrestrial extraction, reducing Earth’s environmental impact. Supported by Luxembourg partners GomSpace and European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC), this strategic project embodies a shared vision of a sustainable and collaborative space ecosystem — paving the way for Mars exploration, asteroid utilization, and beyond. ✨ Oasis-1 marks a decisive step toward a thriving space economy, for the benefit of all humanity. 🔗 Read more : https://lnkd.in/ewh8RDJP Ministère de l'Économie - Luxembourg #SpaceResources #BlueOrigin #Luxembourg #Oasis1 #NewSpace #SpaceEconomy
