Welcome to the first edition of the SDG Media Compact Newsletter which we have created exclusively for our members. The newsletter will be produced quarterly and will offer a platform to showcase member's initiatives in support of the SDGs and keep you updated on SDG related news, upcoming events and other opportunities for engagement. We welcome all feedback, comments and suggestions of topics you’d like to see in future newsletters. The media and entertainment industry has a crucial role to play as we work to keep the SDGs on track and build back to a better, greener and more just world. The SDGs in Action Film Festival, coordinated by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, is an initiative to mobilize the creative community around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
SDG # 14 Life Under Water

MIP SDG Awards
The second annual MIP SDG Award held during the MIPTV in Cannes was presented to A+E Networks in recognition of the network’s ongoing support and commitment to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The theme of this year’s award “Reduced Inequalities” is in line with SDG Goal 10. Melissa Fleming, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications participated in the award ceremony and called on others in the media and entertainment industry to help drive change for humanity.
Media-led conversations at Tokyo Olympics to harness the power and inspiration of sports to achieving the Global Goals
To coincide with the Olympic Games, Tokyo 2020, the United Nations Department of Global Communications, United Nations Information Centre Tokyo and the Asahi Shimbun Company teamed up to hold a series of events, “SDG ZONE at TOKYO” to discuss ideas and approaches to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the power of sport.
