Last Monday, our Senior Manager for Research & Policy, Mr Juergen Attard, delivered a presentation to a group of students from Queen Mary University of London who are currently in Gozo for a field trip as part of their module on “Sustainable Transitions.” 🌍 During the session, Mr Attard shared key insights on Gozo’s social and economic developments over the past decades and discussed some of the main challenges and issues surrounding the island’s development.

The GRDA has recently participated in the 10th Edition of the Greening the Islands Foundation International Conference held a few days ago in Gozo. 💬The GRDA contributed specifically in the session discussing the Green & Blue Economy's Synergies with Island Biodiversity and Health. The GRDA is fully committed to continue to delve in and explore current and future niche markets in Gozo🇲🇹, an important component of the Gozo Regional Development Strategy launched by the GRDA a couple of years ago.

Il-GRDA tkompli ttenni l-impenn tagħha li tappoġġja u ssaħħaħ din l-inizjattiva fil-ġimgħat u s-snin li ġejjin, sabiex flimkien naraw Għawdex jikber bħala gżira ta’ villaġġi sostenibbli, vibranti u attraenti, fejn il-kultura u l-kwalità tal-ħajja jibqgħu fiċ-ċentru tal-iżvilupp tagħna🇲🇹

Illum it-28 ta’ Ottubru, infakkru u nikkommemoraw is-sbuħija, ir-reżiljenza, u l-ispirtu tal-gżira tagħna – Għawdex. Jum biex nonoraw il-passat tagħna, napprezzaw il-preżent tagħna, u naħdmu flimkien għal futur aħjar🤝. F’din l-okkażjoni speċjali, nirrikonoxxu wkoll il-ħidma kontinwa tal-GRDA – ħames snin mit-twaqqif tagħha5️⃣ – impenjata li ssawwar futur sostenibbli u rikk għall-Għawdxin kollha. Hawn insibu ħarsa lejn uħud mill-inizjattivi ewlenin tal-GRDA matul dawn l-aħħar ħames snin: ✅ Strateġija għall-Iżvilupp Reġjonali għal Għawdex ✅ Involviment tal-komunità permezz ta’ konsultazzjoni pubblika ✅ Promozzjoni ta’ mobilità sostenibbli u infrastruttura aktar ekoloġika ✅ Appoġġ għal politika bbażata fuq l-evidenza li tirrifletti l-bżonnijiet uniċi ta’ Għawdex ✅ Kollaborazzjoni ma’ reġjuni Ewropej oħra għal finanzjament u innovazzjoni ✅ Protezzjoni tal-wirt kulturali, ambjentali u arkitettoniku ta’ Għawdex. This morning, the GRDA and The Gozo Business Chamber (GBC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen future collaboration🤝 During the signing, several topics of mutual interest were discussed and will be further explored in the coming months. The agreement was signed by GRDA CEO, Mr Ivan Falzon, and GBC CEO, Mr Daniel Borg.

A delegation from GRDA is currently in Brussels participating in the EU Regions Week!🌍 The delegation also held a bilateral meeting with the European Association of Development Agencies (EURADA), of which GRDA is a proud member. 💬 Discussions focused on the challenges faced by regions and on ways to ensure these issues receive greater prominence on the European agenda. 🌐 #EURegionsWeek #GRDA #EURADA #RegionalDevelopment #Europe #Collaboration #Innovation

Two years since launching the Regional Development Strategy, the GRDA is publishing the Gozo Wellbeing Index 📊 This tool tracks how social, economic, and environmental factors change, as the Gozo Regional Development Strategy 2023–2033 is put into action📈 By looking beyond the Gross Domestic Product, the Index highlights the impact of initiatives such as greener transport🚲, waste reduction♻, social inclusion🤝, and investment in the “new economy”💡on the island’s quality of life. This innovative approach offers a clear picture of the Strategy’s effectiveness and supports informed policy decisions📝
