Composed as a sequence of pavilions, the Careyes house emerges gradually from a hillside, just one kilometer from the Pacific shore. Its architecture follows the natural contours of the land, opening gently toward the sea. The arrival is quiet. A stone plinth anchors the structure, evoking the presence of a ruin embedded in the terrain—timeless, grounded, and integrated with the landscape. From here, a gradual ascent begins: patios, stairs, and terraces guide movement upward, each threshold shaped by changing light, vegetation, and breeze. The house responds to its context through slow transitions and layered views, becoming part of the environment. #SordoMadaleno #render #architecturevisualization #arquitectura #architecture

Land and Context III. Each project is a unique expression of its land, shaped by the textures, stories, and materials that define its place. At Sordo Madaleno, we believe that architecture gains meaning through this intimate connection—crafting contemporary forms that remain deeply grounded in local context. By embracing subtle gestures and essential materials, we seek to evoke life and foster belonging, creating a lasting dialogue between building and environment. Set within a rugged, rocky landscape, the design for this new project in Middle East balances memory with foresight. It emerges from a continuous conversation between local traditions and timeless design, between what has been and what may become. The architecture weaves together nature, culture, and community to create a place that is both rooted and forward-looking—an authentic expression of belonging in constant evolution. #SordoMadaleno #LandAndContext #SiteVisits #architecture

Ánima Village is rooted in materials that reflect the Baja California landscape—each chosen for its ability to connect with nature and reveal its essence over time. The locally sourced San José stone anchors the project, complemented by handcrafted clay brick, the warmth of red grandis wood, and the subtle sheen of marble. These materials compose a coherent language that adds depth, texture, and continuity to the architecture. The result is an environment that responds not only to its function, but also to sunlight, heat, and the rich materiality of the region. It’s a grounded yet evolving architecture—diverse, coherent, and alive—embracing the natural richness of Cabo del Sol through stone, wood, and clay. 🔗 Discover more: https://lnkd.in/gztsuWxF 📍 Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico A project by SOMA Group, designed by #SordoMadaleno. #SordoMadaleno #underconstruction #loscabos #architecture #arquitectura #archigram

#WIP Anchored in the terrain of San José del Cabo, Ánima Village unfolds through a series of volumes that rise and fall in rhythm with the landscape. The varied heights—ranging from 6 to 9.5 meters—create a sense of movement as one walks through the site. Like the heterogeneous forms of a coastal village, this architectural topography invites discovery and frames shifting views of Cabo del Sol. The stepped geometry also becomes a passive response to climate: terraces open toward public plazas, while shadows cast by the volumes, together with the landscape design, offer moments of shade, relief, and pause in a warm, sunlit environment. #MaterialStudies | Concrete mock-ups trials that echo the mass and tactility of stone. Shaped as part of the exploration for a new gastronomic space, their textured surfaces belong to an ongoing process—testing material, form, and atmosphere. Each cast investigates how concrete can evoke landscape, how texture can awaken the senses. #SordoMadaleno #designprocess #design #architecture

We’re proud to participate in AiM - The Architects Index of Modelmaking, a parallel event to La Biennale di Venezia's program (Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia). Our contributions to the exhibition, Study for a Palapa and Arborea, were shaped through a process of questioning, making, and material exploration in our workshop. To us, model making is a way of thinking—an act of drawing in three dimensions. AiM shares that conviction. It celebrates the unfinished, the intuitive, and the crafted. We’re proud to join this collective reflection on the architecture of process. 🔗 Discover more: https://lnkd.in/ee9CykgB 📍 European Cultural Centre, Venice 🗓️ Visit from May 10 to November 23, 2025. #SordoMadaleno #modelmaking #model #maquetas #process #architecture

#DailyLife Last week, our London team visited José María Velasco: A View of Mexico at the The National Gallery, where we enjoyed a private tour led by co-curator Daniel Sobrino Ralston. As a studio deeply rooted in Mexico that has recently established a presence in London, this visit held special meaning. It brought together both Mexican and international perspectives. Velasco’s work has long been a point of reference for us. His landscapes transcend mere representation; they capture light, atmosphere, and the intricate relationship between land, people, and cultural identity—core themes we continually explore in our own practice. Seeing the exhibition together, far from the places Velasco painted, opened new conversations about memory, belonging, and the ways we carry our influences across borders. Thank you, Daniel, for such an inspiring and insightful visit. #SordoMadaleno
