Collaboration is at the heart of stronger food systems 🌱 Knowledge is power and for farmers, it can transform potential into productivity. 🌿 Through our HortiNigeria Program, farmers and agribusinesses have gained skills, insights, and access to expertise that improve both the quality and quantity of their production. By connecting actors across the horticulture value chain, the program has turned shared learning into lasting impact. As we reflect on these achievements, we’d love to hear from you: what’s the most effective way knowledge-sharing can help farmers thrive? #NLinNigeria

Still in the spirit of #WorldFoodDay themed, “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and Future”, we’re reflecting on how collaboration is helping farmers in Nigeria thrive. 🌱 For many farmers, access to finance can be the difference between potential and progress. Through HortiNigeria Program, farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses have found new ways to connect, access funding, and grow stronger together. By building on each other’s strengths, small steps are turning into real impact across Nigeria’s horticulture value chain. How do you think partnerships can help farmers reach their full potential? #NLinNigeria

Happy to be supporting this project that's making agriculture more appealing and accessible for Nigerian Youth 🤝. Together we are working towards a more food secure future.
Today, tomorrow, and always, #food will remain an #essential need of humans, and indeed all living creatures. This basic fact highlights our motivation for #training and #supporting thousands of #Africanyouths to embrace #agribusiness and contribute to food availability on the continent. In line with this year’s theme, ‘ʜᴀɴᴅ ɪɴ ʜᴀɴᴅ ꜰᴏʀ ʙᴇᴛᴛᴇʀ ꜰᴏᴏᴅ ᴀɴᴅ ᴀ ʙᴇᴛᴛᴇʀ ꜰᴜᴛᴜʀᴇ’, we celebrate our teeming #youthagripreneurs, stakeholders in the agro sector, and supportive #donors who have partnered with us over the years to significantly increase #foodavailability as a solution to #hunger and #malnutrition. From robust #harvest to varieties of processed products, captivating branding, and results-focused #marketing, we are pleased that our #interventions have #positioned young people as drivers of food and #nutritionsecurity. Their adoption of #modern practices we exposed them to has not only helped to increase their yield, it has also helped them to produce more nutritious varieties for the continent. On this #WorldFoodDay, we join the rest of the world to celebrate the power of food. Cheers to more years of affordable, #qualityfood for all! #YouthInAgribusiness #FoodSecurity #BetterFoodBetterFuture Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Netherlands in Nigeria

In honour of #WorldFoodDay we reflect on the the value of working together towards the shared goal of food security. One of our HortiNigeria Program’s greatest strengths lies in how it connects people across the horticulture value chain who learn from one another and leverage each other’s strengths to grow together. By linking farmers, innovators, and agribusinesses, the program continues to create opportunities, spark innovation, and build a more sustainable system that benefits everyone involved. In this video, hear from DDEE FARMS, Ecotutu, Soilless Farm Lab, and Simkay Enterprnuers on how collaboration shapes a stronger, more sustainable horticulture sector in Nigeria. Hand in hand we continue to work towards a better food future. #NLinNigeria #SolvingGlobalChallengesTogether

A look back at the HortiNigeria 2025 Learning Event held in Ibadan 🌿 Stakeholders across Nigeria’s horticulture value chain came together to reflect on key milestones since 2021 — from improving farmer livelihoods to advancing innovation and inclusivity. Our Ambassador Bengt joined partners, government officials, and agribusiness leaders to explore how collaboration continues to drive sustainable growth. The event featured engaging discussions on inclusivity, finance, and sustainability, as well as a world café and a field visit to Nihort Research, where participants experienced innovations powered through the HortiNigeria Program. In the coming days, we’ll be sharing reflections and stories from the program — highlighting its impact from training to policy, innovation, and improved access, so stay tuned. 🌱 #NLinNigeria #Horticulture #SolvingGlobalChallengesTogether

This week, we were delighted to host SALID Agriculture Nigeria Ltd and Agriable at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Abuja for the CBI Sustainable Business Award watch ceremony — a celebration of African businesses driving sustainable and responsible growth. 💚 This year, 77 businesses applied for the award, reflecting the growing commitment across Africa to embed sustainability in business practices. Congratulations to the 2025 semi-finalists — Semhal Guesh of Kabana Design (Ethiopia), Richard Ruguya of Gorilla Highlands Coffee (Uganda), and Salid Agriculture (Nigeria) — for their inspiring leadership and innovation. 👏 The CBI Sustainable Business Award is one of the many ways the Netherlands promotes sustainable and effective business globally, advancing trade and development that create shared value while balancing economic opportunity with social and environmental responsibility. A special congratulations to Kabana Design, the 2025 winner! 🎉 💭 How can more African businesses integrate sustainability into their growth strategies? #CBISustainableBusinessAward #NLinNigeria

The Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Lagos yesterday welcomed 35 students from Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Nigeria’s International Law and Diplomacy program on an academic visit. The Consul General and Deputy Consul General engaged the students in an interactive discussion on the Consulate’s work and on the areas shaping Nigeria–Netherlands relations, from agriculture and water management to youth entrepreneurship. The students’ curiosity and thoughtful questions made for an engaging exchange, reflecting their keen interest in how diplomacy functions in practice and contributes to global cooperation. We were delighted to host the faculty and students, led by Chinedu Eti, PhD, and to support experiential learning for the next generation of international and policy leaders. #NLinNigeria
