In honour of our founding President and revered statesman, Dr. Christopher Kolade, CON, the Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria (SCGN) paid a courtesy visit to his family following his passing on October 8th, 2025, at the age of 92. The visit was a moment of reflection and tribute to a man whose life embodied integrity, principled leadership, and service to nation and humanity. The delegation led by Mr. Muhammad K. Ahmad, OON, Chairman and President of SCGN, was attended by Dr. Tola Bamigbaiye-Elatuyi PhD, FNIMN, M.CIoD, Chief Operating Officer. It included distinguished members such as Chief Olusegun Osunkeye, Dr. Tunde Lemo, OFR, Mrs. Uto Ukpanah, Mr. Adedayo Amzat, CFA, Mr. Alex Adedele-Adedipe, Mr. Femi Shobanjo, Mr. Sunkanmi Balogun, and Mr. Michael Otu, all united in paying respect to a man who laid the foundation for ethical corporate governance in Nigeria. Dr. Kolade’s values and vision continue to guide the work of SCGN. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life that shaped generations of leaders and set a standard for integrity in public and private life. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

On the Monday, 20th, 2025, the Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria (SCGN) team, led by our Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Tola Bamigbaiye-Elatuyi PhD, FNIMN, M.CIoD paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos office of the FINANCIAL REPORTING COUNCIL OF NIGERIA. The visit focused on deepening collaboration to enhance stronger regulatory frameworks, the promotion of ethical leadership, and a shared commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustainability in the business environment. Our team was warmly received by key officials of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, including Dr. Baa’Șiro (Dr.) Rabiu Olowo , Executive Secretary/CEO; Mr. Titus Osawe, Coordinating Director of the Directorate of Corporate Governance and the Directorate of Inspections & Monitoring; Mr. Felix C. Azubuike, Deputy Director and Head of Corporate Services; and Mr. Musa Kabiru Jemaku, Director of the Directorate of Accounting Standards (Private Sector).
