⚠️ Trafficking for sexual exploitation is the most widespread form of human trafficking and it disproportionally affects women.   These offences often occur across several countries, from where victims are recruited and transported to where they are subsequently exploited. 🎲Illegal casino with €1 billion in sales taken down. 🇫🇷🇧🇪🇨🇾🇨🇿🇱🇹🇲🇹 authorities and Eurojust worked together to uncover the companies behind the online gambling website and arrest the site managers. Two suspects were charged for offering illegal online gaming and money laundering. They remain in pre-trail detention in France. 📍 Eurojust President Michael Schmid attended the Justice and Home Affairs Council Meeting in Luxembourg to brief ministers on important developments. Among the key topics: ⚖️ The future of Eurojust, which presents an opportunity to shape a stronger, smarter, and even more impactful Agency, capable of meeting tomorrow’s challenges. 🇺🇦 Efforts to enhance justice for Ukraine include connecting the ICPA with the future Special Tribunal and enforcing sanctions to halt illegal exports to Russia. 💡 Harmonising EU rules for lawful data access for law enforcement while safeguarding rights is a priority, along with exploring ways to improve cooperation with service providers.

📄 The SIRIUS Project updated their analysis on requesting mutual legal assistance in criminal matters from Canada. The document, which focuses on the gathering of e-evidence, includes: 🔹 basis for cooperation 🔹 scope of assistance 🔹 MLA request requirements 🔹 grounds for refusal 🔹 information on limitations of use of provided evidence 🔹 contact information for the Canadian Central Authority for MLA. It also includes a list of international agreements on the basis of which MLA from Canada can be requested, as well as a flowchart and description of the required steps for submitting MLA requests to Canada.
