We recently checked in with Michael, who shared how life in the Netherlands has unfolded for him and his family over the past months. His reflections offer a beautiful look into the experience of settling into a new country with moments of growth, challenge, and new beginnings. ✍️ Here is Michael’s story: “My experience in the Netherlands over the past seven months has been nothing short of amazing. The transition has been smooth and enriching, both personally and professionally. Four months ago, my family joined me, and their presence has made the journey even more fulfilling. Like any relocation, it has come with its challenges but also with opportunities for growth. The Dutch language, for instance, has been both fascinating and demanding. We are learning it progressively, step by step, and each new phrase or conversation feels like a small victory. Adjusting to the weather has been another new experience; we’ve just started our first winter in Europe, and while the cold is very different from what we’re used to, it’s becoming part of the adventure. Despite these adjustments, we are integrating well into the Dutch system. Embracing the culture, adapting to the lifestyle, and settling comfortably into our new environment. It has truly been a rewarding chapter for our entire family, filled with learning, resilience, and new beginnings.”   Thank you for sharing your experience, Michael! Every year, our FairPlayers receive a chocolate letter F as part of our Sinterklaas tradition. It's a sweet symbol of belonging. Many of our legacy FairPlayers will remember it, and our newest team members received theirs this week along with each member of our internal team. 🎁🍫 The F stands for FairPlay which unites all our stories. As always, we’ve kept our tradition of ordering the letters from our favorite local bakery in Vijfhuizen, the village where our story began. This year, our team decided to go BIG (literally) and surprise our managing partners, Niek Knibbe, Denise Knibbe, and Bas Knibbe, with one giant chocolate letter F to say thank you and share a bit of Sinterklaas joy in return. We were very happy to welcome Alex Pareja to our office as his first stop after he arrived in the Netherlands this week. Originally from Argentina, Alex brings a rare and highly specialized background in civil work for overhead transmission lines, exactly the expertise our client was looking for. ⚡ Martyna Kumka first reached out to Alex about a different opportunity, but as soon as she saw his resume, she knew she had come across something special. After a great conversation, it became clear that Alex was ready to return to a hands-on engineering role, and even more open to taking the leap and relocating to the Netherlands. Martyna wrote an email to the client to inform them, and the response came quickly, everyone saw the match. From there, everything fell into place smoothly. 🧩 Rosa Bulters - Koopman supported Alex through the relocation, and with a single viewing, he secured his new home. Just before heading into the weekend, we had the pleasure of welcoming our newest FairPlayer, Shai! He has arrived in the Netherlands, recruited by Kelsey to begin his role as Constructeur (Civil Structural Engineer) with one of our newest clients, making this placement extra special for our team. Shai made a strong impression during the recruitment process. His attitude, personality, and hands-on civil engineering experience stood out immediately, and the team in Veendam is looking forward to guiding him in his role. His relocation was supported by Marilou and Rosa, who also assisted with his arrival.
