𝗗𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 🚀 The food transition represents one of the most significant economic and societal opportunities for the Netherlands. It offers the potential for high‑value manufacturing, new value chains, job creation, and global leadership in sustainable and resilient food systems. 💰 In 2025, Dutch agrifood startups and scaleups raised over € 6 billion, matching the record set in 2020, but with fewer deals and higher average investment per company. This shift indicates stronger investor confidence and greater capacity to support scale-up trajectories rather than only early-stage innovation. Beyond funding, ventures moved decisively into commercialisation: launching new products, closing strategic partnerships, building demo facilities, and delivering measurable sustainability impacts. On December 4th, we celebrated these achievements together with founders, investors, experts, and partners. These are not just ecosystem milestones, they are 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 for everyone driving this transition! Across the sector, meaningful advances were made in three dominant themes: • 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆: turning side streams into high-value ingredients • 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻𝘀: fermentation, cultured cells, fungi, and algae • 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: AI, autonomous machinery, and data-driven farming and breeding 📄 Check out our latest article and: • discover the 4 essential levers the Netherlands must now focus on, to convert today’s progress into long-term competitive advantage • get inspired by 10 examples of 2025 successes • find out why the Netherlands is well-positioned to strengthen its role as a global leading hub for alternative proteins, circular ingredients, and digital precision farming 👉 https://lnkd.in/eBJDs3wq Minerve Vicente | Michiel Strijland | Jean Boudillon StartLife | Invest-NL | Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) | Partner in Sustainable Development #FoodInnovation #Sustainability #ScaleUp #StartUp #AlternativeProteins #CircularAgrifood #PrecisionFarming

It celebrates those who make a lasting impact without seeking the spotlight, recognising their dedication, vision, and quiet leadership. Last week and today, we proudly celebrate two outstanding partners from The Protein Community whose commitment and positive influence help move our industry forward every day: • Jan Willem Smits, coming from a family of butchers, he plays a crucial role at Van Loon Group. He bridges the gap between sustainability and commerce, showing how these worlds come together in successfully introduced hybrid products. His ability to connect tradition with innovation makes him a true pioneer. • Wietske Eilander-van Dijk, in her role at Rabobank, is committed to making the financial sector inclusive and committed towards a more plant based food system. Her contribution to the success of Plant Protein Forward and Rabobank’s True Value Language are exemplary for her drive and impact. To show just how special this recognition is, we’re also sharing a behind-the-scenes glimpse… 🎥👇 Watch this short video to discover how our Golden Bean is brought to life by Corinne Van Barneveld from Ontraadseling. 🚀 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 In the drive towards a truly circular food system, smarter use of side streams is key. The #SIDEAID project, led by Wageningen Food Biobased Research, is developing AI-based decision support to help industry players make data-driven #valorisation choices. During a recent online 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 with about 30 partners of 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗽𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, researchers, innovators and platform providers shared progress, insights, and needs for the next phase of digital transformation in upcycling. 📌 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 Turning what was once considered 'waste' into value-added ingredients or products isn’t just sustainable, it’s strategic. By using advanced decision-support systems and digital platforms, we can reduce resource losses, create new value chains and accelerate progress toward circularity. 👉 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/e_KeTJXf #Upcycling #FoodInnovation #SideStreams #SustainableFoodSystems #Wageningenfoodbiobasedresearch

⏰ The clock is ticking... With 2030 approaching rapidly, the question is no longer whether we want a resilient, healthy, and fair food system, but whether we are still on the right path to achieve it. On 11 December, during the Foodvalley Partner Event 2025, we take a clear-eyed look at where we stand today. Are we moving in the right direction? Do we need to accelerate or redefine the route altogether? And what role must each of us play to stay on course? Our keynote speakers will set the stage for this conversation: 🎤 Sofie te Wierik - EAT-Lancet 2.0 Commission and scientific researcher at PBL Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving How can we feed everyone nutritiously within planetary limits? In her keynote, Sofie shares the latest insights from the EAT-Lancet 2.0 Commission on what a healthy, just and sustainable food system requires. She introduces the updated Planetary Health Diet and outlines the Commission’s framework and key actions for transforming the food system in ways that benefit both people and the planet. 🎤 Jeroen Candel - Associate Professor at Wageningen University & Research Is Europe innovating toward the right future? In his keynote, Jeroen explores the politics behind Europe’s innovation agenda and demonstrates how well-intentioned policies can unintentionally reinforce the status quo. He makes a compelling case for reorienting innovation toward public purpose — tackling climate, health, and equity challenges with creativity, courage, and direction. Beyond these keynotes, the day offers inspiring talks with Marjolein Verkerk, Annelies van Hierden and Marjolein A.J. Brasz, interactive community sessions, delicious dishes showcasing food innovations, and much more!
