Last week, our retirees gathered at the RAI for the biennial RAI Pensioners’ Drinks. Together they shared old memories while enjoying snacks and drinks, provided by our Basement Chefs. 👨🍳🥂 Employees who have worked at the RAI for over thirty years took them on a trip down memory lane, where beautiful stories were shared with each other. It was very special to see the lasting connection our former colleagues feel with the RAI. It reflects the strong sense of community and loyalty that defines our organisation. 🌍 ISPO comes to Amsterdam in 2026 After 25 successful years in Munich, ISPO - the world’s leading trade fair for sports, outdoor, and winter sports - is making a historic move to Amsterdam. From 3–5 November 2026, RAI Amsterdam will welcome over 50,000 visitors from across the global sports industry. > Why Amsterdam? This strategic relocation by Raccoon Media Group and Messe München enhances international accessibility and aligns perfectly with global buying cycles. With Schiphol offering excellent connections with North America and Asia, and many major brands headquartered in or near the Netherlands, ISPO is now closer to key decision-makers. > What’s new? ISPO 2026 will span eight halls and 45,000 m², delivering more than a traditional trade fair. Expect spectacular activations, including a Rail Jam and a climbing wall, plus the ISPO Leaders’ Summit on day one, covering topics such as participation, sustainability, and fair trade. Last week, our Food & Beverage department and the Basement Chefs joined forces with Luc Kusters , the first chef in the Netherlands to earn a Green Michelin Star. Together they presented a menu focused on local products, seasonal vegetables and respect for nature. 👨🍳🌱   We transformed the foyer of Hall 8 into ‘Harbour 8’: a premium fine-dining restaurant worthy of a Michelin-starred chef. Next-gen networking The Young Professionals Club returns, bringing together under-40 marine professionals to connect, grow and engage - both online and at the show, in a members-only lounge. Boat Builder Awards dinner with a sustainable twist Our very own Basement Chefs join forces with Green Michelin Star chef Kusters for a unique culinary experience during the Boat Builder Awards on 19 November - spotlighting local, seasonal and sustainable ingredients. 🎓 New: Student Day For the first time, Metstrade opened its doors to Dutch students aged 16 and up. This new initiative gave over 100 MBO and HBO students from schools like CIOS Heerenveen, Firda Sneek and IVA Driebergen a chance to explore the marine industry. The goal? We are proud to announce that we have won the Zuidas Sustainability Award in the category Society & Economy for our Donation Room. 🌍♻️ The Donation Room Programme supports social initiatives across Amsterdam by reducing food waste and reuse materials after various events. We collect usable products and items and ensure they reach local social organisations that can put them to good use. This year, we took an important new step in the project by asking suppliers to actively donate goods or services. Expoflora. This recognition means a lot to us, especially considering the strong competition from other inspiring entries.
