Equinor Strengthens Strategic Ties with Ørsted Amid Offshore Wind Challenges Norway’s Equinor has announced its support for Danish offshore wind developer Ørsted’s plan to raise $9.4 billion through a rights issue. Holding a 10% stake in Ørsted, Equinor intends to invest up to 6 billion Danish crowns (approximately $941 million) and may nominate a candidate to Ørsted’s board. This move highlights Equinor’s long-term strategic interest in deepening collaboration with Ørsted and its confidence in the future of offshore wind energy across select global markets. The capital raise comes at a challenging time for Ørsted in the U.S., where regulatory hurdles have emerged. The U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) recently issued a stop-work order on Ørsted’s $1.5 billion Revolution Wind project off Rhode Island, citing national security concerns. The decision triggered a significant drop in Ørsted’s share price and illustrates the complexities of developing offshore wind projects under evolving political and regulatory landscapes. Despite these setbacks, Ørsted remains committed to its growth plans, with Denmark’s finance ministry also participating in the rights issue. This tech increases gas recovery on the world's first facility for gas compression on the seabed🌊 Sometimes, the most powerful innovations happen far below the surface—literally: Equinor and partners have rolled out the next generation of subsea compressor modules—boosting gas recovery for the Åsgard field in the Norwegian Sea. This isn’t just a technical upgrade; it’s a leap in resource utilization and long-term value creation.    What It Does: It increases pressure in the pipelines between the wells and the Åsgard B platform.  This helps maintain production from the field as reservoir pressure naturally declines over time.  The compressor modules are installed on the seabed at 270 meters depth, making this a highly advanced subsea engineering solution (and they work kind of like lego bricks!)    Why It Matters: Åsgard was the first in the world to implement gas compression directly on the seabed (starting in 2015).  The system has delivered nearly 100% uptime over 10 years, contributing approximately NOK 175 billion (approx USD 17 bn) in added value.  With phase 2 now complete, the recovery rate from the Mikkel and Midgard fields will reach 90%, unlocking an additional 306 million barrels of oil equivalent.  This technology is a prime example of how deep collaboration and long-term innovation can extend the life of mature fields and maximize resource utilization—critical for both energy security and sustainability. 💡 A new milestone for Carbon Capture and Storage (#CCS) in Europe! TotalEnergies, together with our partners Equinor and Shell, is proud to announce that the first CO₂ volumes have been successfully with Northern Lights JV: 🚢 transported by vessel from Heidelberg Materials’ cement factory in Brevik, Norway, to Northern Lights’ facilities in Øygarden, ⬇️ and permanently injected 2,600 meters below the seabed, 100 km off the coast of Western Norway. Northern Lights is the world’s first merchant CO₂ transport and storage project — a game-changer for European industry: Phase 1️⃣: 1.5 Mt CO₂/year capacity (already fully booked by customers in Norway and Continental Europe). Phase 2️⃣: construction approved in March 2025, expanding to over 5 Mt CO₂/year by 2028. With operations now underway, CCS is no longer a vision — it’s a reality. Progress Update: Berling’s subsea gas infrastructure nears completion We’re proud to announce a major milestone in #OMV’s Berling offshore gas development in Norway —a project that’s central to our strategy of making #naturalgas a key transitional fuel. With gas set to exceed 60% of our portfolio, Berling plays a vital role in shaping a more secure and sustainable energy future for Europe. In July, we successfully installed a 24-kilometer static umbilical on the seabed at the Berling field. Transported from Newcastle upon Tyne, UK aboard the North Sea Atlantic, this umbilical will enable remote control of future gas from Equinor’s Åsgard B platform. DNO ASA, the Norwegian oil and gas operator, today reported strong second quarter results with revenue up 37 percent to USD 258 million from the prior quarter and operating profit up 206 percent to USD 86 million, even with the contribution from the transformative USD 1.6 billion acquisition of Sval Energi Group AS in Norway recorded only as from 1 June 2025. Net production during the quarter increased 10 percent to 92,600 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd), of which 56,100 boepd from the Kurdistan region of Iraq, 33,300 boepd from the North Sea and 3,200 boepd from West Africa. With the addition of the Sval Energi assets, projected second half 2025 North Sea production is 80,000-85,000 boepd. While months-long repairs are pending and security concerns remain following drone strikes on DNO operated fields in Kurdistan, DNO has ramped up gross production on a test basis to 55,000 boepd, about evenly split between the Tawke and Peshkabir fields. “With strong production and cash generation across the portfolio, we will continue our pivot to delivering increased cash value to our shareholders with stepped up dividends while streamlining and trimming expenditure across the Company,” said Executive Chairman Bijan Mossavar-Rahmani. “We are also focused like a laser on lowering the level and cost of debt,” he added. Norway M&A! Aker BP ASA and JAPEX Norge have entered into an interest swap agreement. Japex will receive a 10% interest in Alve Nord and a 3.5% interest in the Verdande development. In return, Aker will acquire a 10% and 15% interest in the Kveikje and Kjøttkake discoveries respectively and 20% in licence PL1212S - receiving a cash consideration of US$14 million. For Aker, the deal strengthens its position in a high-potential cluster of discoveries and provides future growth opportunities as it looks to increase production into the 2030’s. For Japex, the deal grows its Norway business and provides near-term production, boosting its 2025 production by 35% to 784 boe/d.
