Oslo Innovation Week 2025 Monday, Equinor Ventures have attended "CVCs unplugged: Real talk, Real connections" at House of Oslo, hosted by DNV ventures and Startuplab. Huge thanks to DNV ventures to host this event, and all the real talk and real connections with the other CVSs in all kinds of formats and shapes. A quite Nordic crowd. Kjersti Reinsnos, Managing Director of Equinor Ventures, pulled back the curtain on the nuanced world of follow-on investments. She didn't just share Equinor's process; she deep-dived into the common mistakes and the often-overlooked emotional and pragmatic aspects of decision-making during those crucial funding rounds. The candid conversations continued in Fredrick Støa's breakout session, "How to throw good after bad money." The reflections and thoughts shared during the group discussion on navigating challenging follow-on scenarios were a powerful reminder of the importance of honest assessment and strategic action in corporate venturing. Tuesday, Startuplab Summit took place at Oslo science park, hosted by Startuplab. Equinor ventures, Equinor Startup Hub and many good colleagues from Branding, Safety, Sustainability and Circularity attended this big event of 700+ registered participants. Kudos to Startuplab for extending the reach to Nordics. 30 excellent pitches and 70 startups exhibiting with stands. Equinor Startup Hub (Simon Davies, Kjell Morten Sviland, Fahd Newaz) had speed dates with 4 great startups. Key note speeches and panels really make you reflect on what was the essential ingredients to succeed. Fredrick Støa co-hosted, with Marvelous Deep Tech, a deep dive session "Turning Impact into Value: How Can We Quantify Sustainability in a Commercial World?”. While we were too busy connecting to nail the perfect group picture, it was an absolute blast running into so many known faces! The real connection is always better than the perfect selfie. Big thanks to everyone who made the mingling the most valuable part of the day! Wednesday, Switch conference happened at SANDS Advokatfirma AS, hosted by Kongsberg Innovasjon, Kjeller Innovasjon AS and Investinor. CTO of Norwegian armed force Bjørn Tore was present and of course there is panel discussion on dual use and security. 6 great pitches with judges asking various questions on a very strict time schedule, to showcase how founders need to prepare to be picked. Daniel Abicht was on the judge table for choosing the winning pitch, and along with co-judges asked a lot of relevant questions to the founders. What a week for the ventures teams at Equinor, and all our collaboration partners.
