Nyiko Condry Ngobeni (PhD Candidate, Rhodes University, South Africa) is a lecturer in the Department of Humanities and Creative Arts Education at Walter Sisulu University. He is an accomplished music educator, performer, and researcher with significant international experience. He has performed in numerous operatic productions at leading institutions, including Tshwane University of Technology, Harvard University, the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, Longy Opera School, and several major theatres in South Africa and the United States. Ngobeni is a reviewer for several academic journals, including the International Journal of Learning, Teaching and Educational Research, Jurnal Seni Musik, BP International, Science Publishing Group, and Bon View Publishing. He has published scholarly articles in accredited journals, addressing key themes such as virtual music instruction, student-teacher motivation, phonetics in vocal performance, and teacher professional development. His academic advancement has been supported by prestigious organisations such as the Oppenheimer Memorial Trust, the National Arts Council of South Africa, the Department of Arts and Culture, the Apollo Music Trust, and the City of Tshwane. These awards supported his master’s studies at the Longy School of Music of Bard College in the United States.Ngobeni’s research interests include music performance, music education, performing art, curriculum development, phonetics in vocal pedagogy, and teacher training in the arts. He continues contributing to South Africa’s music education landscape through academic leadership and adjudication in music competitions. His professional goal is to bridge scholarly excellence with transformative community engagement in music and education.
