Kia ora! University of Auckland Women in Business (UAWB) is a student-led organisation dedicated to empowering women in business. We provide students with professional development workshops, transformational leadership opportunities and a strong sense of community. All University of Auckland students are welcome to become members, regardless of degree type or gender. We believe that anyone can share our purpose of promoting female empowerment. After all, you might have a sister, a mother or friend who you believe deserves more recognition and equal opportunities – you don’t have need business experience or to identify as female yourself to celebrate the inspirational women in business around you.   • 🌟 2025 UAWB Connect Exploring Business Days Recap 🌟 As the year comes to a close, we’re reflecting on an incredible series of Exploring Days through the UAWB Connect Program, with a year filled with inspiration, learning, and connection across a wide range of industries. Our Connectees had the opportunity to visit and engage with some of New Zealand’s leading companies, each offering unique insights into their culture, values, and career opportunities. Fonterra – Our members explored the world of dairy innovation, discovering career pathways across the co-operative and learning how their strengths could align with opportunities at Fonterra. Bayleys Real Estate – Members toured Bayleys’ offices, networked over morning tea, and gained a firsthand look into the company’s diverse operations and sustainability initiatives. Sky TV – A behind-the-scenes tour brought the world of broadcasting to life! Our Connectees learned about resilience, growth, and saying yes to every opportunity. ZURU – The team at ZURU hosted a fun and engaging day featuring an inspiring leadership panel, creative office tours, and even professional headshots for our members! KPMG – A day of professional growth, where members heard from empowering KPMG leaders, explored the world of corporate services, and received one-on-one career advice. The Attention Seeker – Creativity took center stage as our members learned about storytelling, audience connection, and the art of creating impactful content. Blackbird Ventures – Members dove into the world of venture capital, exploring startup investment journeys and reflecting on pivotal inflection points in both life and career. Forsyth Barr Limited – For our final Exploring Day of the year, members enjoyed an inspiring morning with industry professionals who shared insights into investment banking and their experiences as women in the finance sector. Each experience provided our members with invaluable opportunities to connect, ask questions, and envision what their future careers might look like across various industries.   • PwC: AI Beyond the Buzz Recap What an inspiring afternoon diving deep into the world of AI from curiosity to responsibility💡 We explored how generative AI works, what goes into training data, and how deepfake AI and AI-generated videos can now understand lighting, mood, and tone without being explicitly instructed to do so. Through hands-on demos, R&D showcases, and interactive activities, we saw firsthand how AI adoption unlocks real transformation in business processes and why the most important skill we can bring to this new era is curiosity💫 Big thanks to the PwC team for taking us beyond the buzz and showing us how AI is already reshaping the way we learn, work, and create 🚀

    We were so excited to host this year’s University of Auckland Women in Business x ZURU Connect Event! It’s always a highlight welcoming students into our offices, this time, we had an incredible group from UAWB for their Connect Exploring Business day. The day featured a panel with some of ZURU’s inspiring women ,Tahlia Rawle, Danielle Talbot, and Grace Harford who shared their journeys and advice, professional headshots by Sam Brock, and an office tour. We wrapped up with coffee chats where students explored teams and careers that excite them. A huge thank you to everyone who made this possible , especially Sammie Denby-Evans Ashlynne Jury and to all the students who joined us. We loved your enthusiasm and curiosity! #ZURU

  • 🌟 UAWB x Foodstuffs North Island Limited Field Trip recap 🌟   On Tuesday, our members had the incredible opportunity to visit Foodstuffs North Island. We were welcomed and shown around by Ruawai Te Rata and Montana Thomas, who provided us with insight into Foodstuffs’ purpose, history, and its role in feeding and nurturing New Zealand. 🥝🍞   The highlight of the day was an inspiring panel with leaders who shared their journeys and advice: ✨ @Georgina Maguire - spoke on resilience, networking, and her 2.5-year journey to Four Square ownership, reminding us it’s a marathon, not a sprint. ✨ Abbey Bailey - UX & Digital Design Manager - encouraged us to value the people who support us and not be afraid to try new things. ✨ Melissa Chapman, a supply chain leader, left us with a powerful reminder: “The standard you walk past is the standard you accept.”   Together, their stories encouraged us to back ourselves, embrace challenges, and find strength in community and support. 💪   A massive thank you to Foodstuffs North Island for making this such an insightful and empowering experience!💗

  • 💼✨ UAWB x UBS Breakfast Recap ✨💼 Last week, our members had the incredible opportunity to connect with UBS professionals over breakfast and gain valuable insight into the world of investment banking. From M&A advisory and sales & trading to capital raising and corporate finance, attendees got a deep dive into the different divisions that drive UBS’s global impact. A couple of our members shared: 🗣️ “This event helped me gain a better understanding about investment banking and trading opportunities.” 🗣️ “Hearing from UBS professionals about their career journeys, challenges, and advice gave me a well-rounded perspective on their supportive and inclusive culture at the firm.” We also heard first-hand what a day in the life of a UBS intern looks like, and learned more about UBS’s Women’s Mentoring Programme - an exciting initiative helping women explore careers in finance.     Our founder, Elizabeth Barbalich, was invited to speak at St Cuthbert’s College, sharing her story of building Antipodes with the next generation of leaders. From an intimate session with ten aspiring entrepreneurs to a presentation for 150 Year 11–13 students, Elizabeth inspired students to dream big and back themselves.
