The "right" way to do cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA)? It doesn't exist. The right principle? Does --> Transparency. In his latest reflections, Jeff McManus argues why the development sector needs clarity on how estimates are made, assumptions are stated, and costs and impacts are compared across programs. Transparent CEA is what makes evidence actionable and comparable. 🔗 Read here: https://lnkd.in/gwbg84KM

Limited impact and eroding trust. In his blog, Eric Dodge, IDinsight Director of Engineering, outlines the essential infrastructure required to transition from basic AI interactions to strategic, high-value applications that drive meaningful change. 🔗 Read here: https://lnkd.in/gU4xiKD6

Collaboration over competition. I have always believed that sustainable Business Development outcomes in our sector comes from building on synergies rather than working in silos. It is not about competing for space, it is about finding ways to complement each other’s strengths to provide our clients with more holistic and impactful solutions. A perfect example is the great conversation I had yesterday with Sylvia Mwamba, Ph.D., Associate Director & Zambia Lead at IDinsight. We explored how our organizations can work together to deliver a more comprehensive offer, Melon Rouge Agency bringing expertise in HCD research, prototyping and testing, co-creation, and campaign design & implementation, and IDinsight enhancing with their strong focus on driving impact at scale, increasing cost-effectiveness, and harnessing technology and innovation, including the use of AI, to augment impact and improve development outcomes. Excited about where this collaboration will take us.

🇰🇪 IDinsight is partnering with Kenya's National Treasury to make government budgets more results-focused. Following the success of the first phase with the Health and Education sectors earlier this year, we've now scaled up the Programme-Based Budgets (PBB) reform to the Social Protection sector. In September 2025, IDinsight and the National Treasury held a two-week co-creation workshop with Social Protection Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to refine their programme goals, objectives, and indicators, ensuring that public resources deliver measurable impact for Kenyan citizens. The PBB reform work marks another milestone in Kenya's journey toward results-based budgeting, setting the stage for stronger accountability and better service delivery. We're grateful to the National Treasury for its leadership and to all participating MDAs for their active engagement in advancing Kenya's PBB reforms. 🔗 Learn more about our public finance work here: https://buff.ly/7H6JMAx --- Meet our team: Grace Mukami Muriithi, Torben Fischer, Cecilia Mutia, Martin Atela, PhD, Faith Kemunto

📢Check out this blog from IDinsight head of data engineering Eric Dodge: "To unlock the value of AI, you need data infrastructure." We often say that AI tools are "garbage in, garbage out" without good, interoperable, clean, and up-to-date data systems undergirding them. This article goes deeper into the technical underpinnings of all good AI tools, and issues a call to action for doers and funders alike to invest in healthy data systems. As Eric points out, the real challenge isn’t just technical. Organizational change management and leadership are just as critical to realizing the promise of new technologies. https://lnkd.in/eE98k_E2
