During this week, experts in the fight against cybercrime from across Europe gathered for the CYCLOPES Practitioner Workshop on Enhancing Evaluation & Validation of Digital Forensic Tools in Warsaw. Over two days, law enforcement practitioners, researchers, and technical specialists exchanged experiences and identified concrete priorities to ensure the reliability and trustworthiness of digital forensic tools in the age of rapid technological change. Key Outcomes & Recommendations: 👉 Invest in specialist training, build AI expertise, and dedicate personnel to effective tool validation. 👉 Develop clear, standardised validation procedures, supported by up-to-date datasets and continuous testing cycles. 👉 Improve information sharing across LEAs, foster transparency with vendors, and explore the creation of national contact points. 👉 Address challenges of rapidly changing platforms and AI-driven tools, while working towards shared platforms for validation and peer review. 👉 Ensure the reliability of AI-generated evidence, align practices across jurisdictions, and strengthen safeguards for sensitive data. The workshop confirmed a shared vision: stronger collaboration and harmonisation across EU Member States is essential to ensure that digital forensic tools remain accurate and future-proof against evolving cybercrime threats. A big thank you to all participants for their insights and commitment. #projectcyclopes #cyclopesnetwork #h2020 #cybercrime #lawenforcement

Last week, Holly Burgin, our Senior Practitioner (Training and Organisational Consultancy) attended the 2PS Project and CYCLOPES - Cybercrime Law Enforcement Practitioners' Network workshop, where she presented on vicarious trauma and organisational resilience. She highlighted an important reality: frontline staff carry a heavy emotional load when responding empathetically to people in crisis. Over time, this can lead to compassion fatigue, burnout, and even shifts in how we view others, relationships, and the world around us. That’s why it’s vital to support the supporters. If you or your team work in frontline services and need support, we can help: - Explore our training courses: https://lnkd.in/gxWX6nWY - Email us for more info: [email protected] #Professionals #Support #Trauma

CYCLOPES - Cybercrime Law Enforcement Practitioners' Network ponownie to opublikował(a)
The people trying to help must be helped themselves. I'm happy to be part of "Strategies for Professionals Working with Harmful and Distressing Content: Empowering Practice, Enhancing Prevention" in Berlin, September 24th-26th. This topic doesn't get nearly the attention it deserves. Every day, countless professionals—from social workers and therapists to content moderators and law enforcement—are exposed to traumatic, harmful, and distressing material as part of their mission to protect others. But who is protecting them? The reality is stark; those dedicated to helping others often bear invisible wounds from their work. Secondary trauma, burnout, and compassion fatigue are real consequences that can compromise both their wellbeing and their ability to serve effectively - resulting in absence, long-term sick, and people seeking other roles. With capacity issues cited as a key challenge from law enforcement agencies, we're happy to bring together individuals and organisations committed to helping change the narrative. Through the 2PS Project and CYCLOPES - Cybercrime Law Enforcement Practitioners' Network project, the approach combines: ✅ Top-down strategies: Organisational policies, training frameworks, and systemic support ✅ Bottom-up actions: self-care practices and individual resilience building In Berlin, we will also explore several new actions in this space, reviewing how they're working to solve existing challenges, and discuss how technology could play a more active role in protecting people in their work environment. This isn't just about professional development—it's about professional sustainability. Capacity issues will continue to be a problem if retention is low or people are off sick. Looking forward to what promises to be a fruitful event. #MentalHealth #TraumaInformed #ProfessionalWellbeing #Prevention #WorkPlaceSafety
