Lithuania: 1700 MW / 4000 MWh of #BESS projects will receive state subsidies at 14.7% of investment CAPEX. For context, the country has typical summer time peak consumption of 1500 MW. So new storage systems will be enough to cover all of peak demand for 2 hours. Will be interesting to observe, how much of those projects get built. It is no surprise that Baltics are seeing tremendous interest in launching storage systems based on the high prices at ancillary markets. 1700 MW should saturate the ancillary market so they must participate in wholesale market as well.

Every time a new BESS auction hits the headlines, the focus is on one number: the “record low tariff.” But in energy storage, the story doesn’t end there. The ₹/MW/month figure tells only half the tale — it ignores many important aspects which the discoms have to bear. The cheapest bid on paper may not deliver the most reliable, long-lasting energy. It’s time to look inside the box and evaluate the real value of storage systems over their entire lifetime. €64 million to power Lithuania’s green future. ☀️ Nordic Investment Bank and NORD/LB have signed financing agreements with Green Genius to develop two 91 MW solar parks — one of which will also feature an 18 MW battery energy storage system (BESS).
