🇵🇹 IPVC e ADiT-Lab reforçam parceria com o CCG/ZGDV para impulsionar a inovação e a transferência de conhecimento 🤝 O Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo e o CCG/ZGDV Institute assinaram um protocolo de cooperação que reforça o compromisso conjunto com a inovação, a transferência de conhecimento e a ligação entre o ensino superior e o setor empresarial. O ADiT-Lab, unidade de investigação do IPVC dedicada à transformação digital e à inovação aplicada, assume um papel central nesta parceria, promovendo o desenvolvimento de projetos conjuntos de investigação e inovação, estágios, coorientação de dissertações e iniciativas de formação técnica e científica. The ADiT-Lab, IPVC’s research unit dedicated to digital transformation and applied innovation, plays a key role in this partnership, driving joint research and innovation projects, internships, thesis co-supervision, and technical and scientific training initiatives. This collaboration marks an important step in bringing academia and industry closer together, reinforcing the ADiT-Lab’s role as a driver of applied innovation and contributing to technological progress, business competitiveness, and value creation for society and the Portuguese economy. 🌍

🇵🇹 ADiT-Lab | Doutoramentos em curso É com grande orgulho que destacamos a participação de Shadi Mahmoodi, bolseira do ADiT-Lab no âmbito da agenda mobilizadora TEXP@CT (CITEVE), doutoranda no Programa Doutoral em Engenharia Eletrotécnica e de Computadores da Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, na 8.ª edição do Doctoral Consortium – SCIENCIA EST POPULUM. A Shadi apresentou com sucesso o plano de trabalhos da sua tese de doutoramento, intitulada: “Distributed Edge-AI Image-based Localization for Indoor Industrial Environments”, sob orientação do Prof. Sérgio Ivan Lopes (ADiT-Lab) e do Prof. Salviano Pinto Soares (UTAD). Um marco importante no seu percurso académico. 🇵🇹 No dia 8 de julho de 2025, no Hotel Flor de Sal, em Viana do Castelo, o ADiT-Lab assinalou a sua acreditação como Unidade de Investigação pela Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), num jantar que reuniu a equipa e vários parceiros num ambiente de celebração e reconhecimento. Foi um momento especial para destacar o papel dos membros integrados e colaboradores, cujo trabalho contínuo, dedicação e espírito de equipa têm sido fundamentais para o crescimento e afirmação do laboratório. Esta acreditação é o reflexo de um percurso coletivo feito com empenho, rigor e visão de futuro. Durante o encontro, houve também espaço para um reconhecimento ao Professor Rui Gomes, pelo legado científico deixado na fase inicial da unidade de investigação, e pelo contributo que continua a representar para o desenvolvimento da atividade científica do ADiT-Lab. A celebração contou ainda com a presença do Professor Luís Paulo Rodrigues, Pró-Presidente para a Investigação do IPVC, reforçando a ligação institucional e o compromisso do Politécnico com o desenvolvimento da ciência e da investigação aplicada. Esta conquista reforça a confiança no caminho que estamos a seguir e renova a motivação para continuar a crescer com propósito, impacto e espírito de colaboração. ⸻ 🇬🇧 On July 8th, 2025, at Hotel Flor de Sal in Viana do Castelo, ADiT-Lab marked its accreditation as a Research Unit by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), with a dinner that brought together the team and several partners in a relaxed and celebratory atmosphere. It was a special occasion to highlight the role of integrated members and collaborators, whose ongoing work, dedication and team spirit have been key to the Lab’s growth and recognition. This accreditation reflects a shared journey marked by commitment, scientific rigour and a forward-looking mindset. The evening also included a recognition of Professor Rui Gomes, for the scientific legacy established in the initial phase of the research unit, and for the contribution that continues to support the development of ADiT-Lab’s scientific activity. The celebration was also attended by Professor Luís Paulo Rodrigues, Vice-President for Research at IPVC, reinforcing the institutional alignment and the Polytechnic’s commitment to advancing science and applied research. This milestone reinforces our confidence in the path we are taking and renews our motivation to keep growing with purpose, impact and a collaborative spirit.

🇵🇹 SASYR 2025 reforça o papel dos Politécnicos na formação de jovens investigadores O ADiT-Lab – Laboratório de Transformação Digital Aplicada do Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo organizou, esta quarta-feira, 2 de julho, a 5.ª edição do SASYR – Symposium of Applied Science for Young Researchers, que teve lugar na ESTG-IPVC em Viana do Castelo. O simpósio contou com a participação de cerca de uma centena de jovens investigadores, docentes e orientadores científicos, provenientes de diferentes unidades de investigação do ensino politécnico, nomeadamente o 2Ai IPCA, o CeDRI IPB, o GECAD - Research Group on Intelligent Engineering and Computing for Advanced Innovation Development (Instituto Politécnico do Porto) e o ADiT-LAB - Applied Digital Transformation Laboratory Num ambiente informal e multidisciplinar, foram apresentados projetos de investigação aplicada que refletem o trabalho desenvolvido por investigadores em início de percurso académico. O SASYR 2025 promoveu a troca de experiências, o debate crítico e a criação de redes entre instituições, reforçando o papel do ensino politécnico na construção de uma ciência mais próxima dos desafios reais da sociedade e do tecido produtivo. Esta edição coincidiu com um momento simbólico para o ADiT-Lab, que foi recentemente acreditado pela primeira vez pela FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, reconhecimento que reforça a maturidade científica da unidade e a sua afirmação no panorama nacional da investigação aplicada. 🇬🇧 SASYR 2025 reinforces the role of Polytechnics in training young researchers The ADiT-Lab – Applied Digital Transformation Laboratory of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo hosted, this Wednesday, July 2, the 5th edition of the SASYR – Symposium of Applied Science for Young Researchers, held at the School of Technology and Management of IPVC, in Viana do Castelo. The event brought together around one hundred participants, including young researchers, professors and research supervisors from various research units within the polytechnic network: 2Ai (Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave), CeDRI (Polytechnic Institute of Bragança), GECAD (Polytechnic Institute of Porto) and the host ADiT-Lab (Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo). In a multidisciplinary and collaborative setting, participants presented applied research projects reflecting the work of early-career researchers. SASYR 2025 fostered exchange, critical dialogue and institutional cooperation, strengthening the role of polytechnic institutions in producing research aligned with real-world societal and industry challenges. This edition also marked an important milestone for ADiT-Lab, which was recently accredited for the first time by FCT – the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, a recognition that reinforces its scientific maturity and growing relevance in the national applied research ecosystem.

🇵🇹 ADiT-LAB/IPVC no ISIEA 2025 com soluções digitais para a indústria têxtil 📍 Bolzano, Itália | 18–20 de junho Bolseiros do ADiT-LAB – Laboratório para a Transformação Digital Aplicada do IPVC – participaram no International Symposium on Industrial Engineering and Automation (ISIEA 2025), na Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, parceira da rede SUNRISE Alliance. As comunicações integraram a Agenda Mobilizadora TEXP@CT, financiada pelo PRR. - Gonçalo Quesado apresentou o caso da Adalberto, com um gémeo digital FIWARE para monitorização em tempo real. - Tiago Lemos apresentou a solução de digital twin baseada em FIWARE para a MTEX NS, centrada na modernização de maquinaria têxtil com IIoT e manutenção preditiva. - Vítor Amorim apresentou o CoboTwin, um gémeo digital baseado em FIWARE para robots colaborativos em ambientes industriais. - Sérgio Ivan Lopes, docente da ESTG-IPVC e coordenador do PPS#8 do TexP@ct, foi Chair da sessão Automation and Manufacturing Technologies, promovendo o debate sobre inovação e produção. Esta participação reforça o papel do ADiT-LAB/IPVC na digitalização do setor têxtil, com soluções tecnológicas abertas, interoperáveis e sustentáveis. 🇬🇧 ADiT-LAB/IPVC at ISIEA 2025 with digital solutions for the textile industry 📍 Bolzano, Italy | June 18–20 Researchers from ADiT-LAB – Applied Digital Transformation Lab at IPVC – took part in the International Symposium on Industrial Engineering and Automation (ISIEA 2025), at the Free University of Bolzano, part of the SUNRISE Alliance. Presentations were part of the TexP@ct Mobilizing Agenda, funded by Portugal's PRR. - Gonçalo Quesado presented Adalberto’s case, with a FIWARE-based digital twin for real-time monitoring. - Tiago Lemos presented the MTEX NS case, focused on a FIWARE-based digital twin for textile machinery modernization with IIoT and predictive maintenance. - Vítor Amorim showcased CoboTwin, a FIWARE-based digital twin for collaborative robots in industrial environments. - Sérgio Ivan Lopes, professor at ESTG-IPVC and coordinator of PPS#8 of TexP@ct, also chaired the Automation and Manufacturing Technologies session, contributing to discussions on innovation. Pela primeira vez, o ADiT-Lab – Applied Digital Transformation Laboratory foi acreditado pela FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, na Avaliação de Unidades de I&D 2024, com a classificação de “Bom”. Este reconhecimento é ainda mais significativo por se tratar da área de “Computer Sciences and Information Technologies”, uma das mais competitivas da avaliação nacional, onde o ADiT-Lab é uma das apenas duas Unidades de Investigação acreditadas em Institutos Politécnicos, juntamente com o CIIC - Politécnico de Leiria. Parabéns a toda a equipa! 🇬🇧 ADiT-Lab has officially been recognized by FCT as an accredited R&D Unit! For the first time, ADiT-Lab – Applied Digital Transformation Laboratory has been accredited by FCT – the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, in the 2024 Evaluation of R&D Units, with a “Good” rating. This recognition is even more meaningful as it concerns the highly competitive field of “Computer Sciences and Information Technologies”, where ADiT-Lab is one of only two accredited Research Units from Portuguese Polytechnics, alongside CIIC - Polytechnic of Leiria. Congratulations to the whole team!

🇵🇹 | Participação no Festival Nacional de Robótica 2025 Os investigadores Pedro Moreira e Pedro Castro, do ADiT-LAB, participaram no Festival Nacional de Robótica 2025, acompanhando a equipa Robotic@IPVC (ESTG-IPVC), que conquistou o 1.º lugar e garantiu a qualificação para a RoboCup 2025, no Brasil. Uma vitória que reforça a ligação entre investigação, inovação e formação aplicada! 🇬🇧 | Participation in the 2025 National Robotics Festival Researchers Pedro Moreira and Pedro Castro, from ADiT-LAB, took part in the 2025 National Robotics Festival, supporting the Robotic@IPVC team (ESTG-IPVC), who won 1st place and secured qualification for RoboCup 2025 in Brazil. A victory that strengthens the link between research, innovation, and applied education!
