1. What are cookies?

Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information that are stored on personal computers (PCs) or other devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets, etc.) each time users visit a website through a web browser. Cookies allow websites to store certain information about users, eliminating the need for users to repeatedly enter the same information or preferences. That is, on each subsequent visit, the browser sends these cookies to the website that originated them and, in certain cases, to other websites other than the original website.

Cookies, therefore, are information files that can assume various functions, being able to save the user's preferences for certain types of information or save information related to their visit to each website, with the main objective of detecting the user in their visits to websites and their respective configuration parameters and their preferences in this regard.

The use of cookies does not affect internet access and does not identify the individual user, but only the device used.

2. What are the functions of Cookies?

Cookies perform various functions, including helping manage and update website content, understanding how websites are used, facilitating user navigation by saving their preferences, and generally improving the website user experience. They also serve to ensure that websites display content relevant to each user. Therefore, they are tools for continuously improving the user experience.

3. Types of cookies

Entity that carries out its management

Own – Cookies sent to users' terminal equipment from a computer or domain managed by the website owner and from which the service requested by the user is provided.

Third Party – Cookies sent to users' terminal devices from a computer or domain not managed by the website owner, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through cookies. These include cookies installed from a computer or domain managed by the website owner, but where the information collected through these cookies is managed by a third party.

Period in which they remain active

Session – Cookies designed to collect and store data while users access a website. They are generally used to store information that is only relevant to providing the service requested by users on a single occasion (e.g., a list of purchased products).

Persistent – Cookies in which the data is still stored on the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the website owner and whose retention period can vary from a few minutes to several years.

Purpose

Technicians – Cookies that allow users to navigate a website, platform, or application and use the different options or services available, e.g., control traffic and data communication, identify the session, access restricted areas, remember the elements that make up an order, share content through social networks, etc.

Personalization – Cookies that allow users to access the website with some predefined general characteristics, based on a series of criteria on their equipment, such as the language, the type of browser used to access the service, and the regional settings from which users access the website.

Analysis – Cookies that allow the website owner to monitor and analyze user behavior. The information collected through this type of cookie is used to measure the activity of websites, applications, or platforms and to create browsing profiles of users of these websites, applications, and platforms, in order to introduce improvements based on the analysis of data on the use made by website users.

Advertising – Cookies that allow the most efficient management possible of advertising spaces that, where appropriate, the website owner has included on a website, application or platform from which the requested service is provided based on criteria such as edited content or the frequency with which ads are displayed.

From behavioral advertising – Cookies that allow for the most efficient management of advertising spaces that, where appropriate, the website owner has included on a website, application, or platform from which the requested service is provided. These cookies store information about user behavior through continuous observation of their browsing habits, which allows the development of a specific profile to display ads based on that profile.

4. What types of cookies does PTCRIS use?

This type of cookie does not require the user's prior consent for storage.

Non-essential:
Functional/personalization cookies: These cookies allow websites to remember information about the user's choices, such as language, region, and personalization of the website's browsing experience. These cookies expire at the end of the user session (for example, when the user closes the browser window) or may persist for longer to remember the user's preferences and choices on the website, if accepted.
Retention period for data collected in this context: one year after collection.

Analytical cookies:
These cookies are used to analyze how users use a website and to monitor its performance, for example, which pages receive the most visits or whether any error messages are returned to the user. This allows us to provide a high-quality experience by personalizing the offer and quickly identifying and correcting any issues that arise. These cookies are used for continuous improvement and statistical analysis.

To collect this type of cookies, FCT uses the Google Analytics analysis tool and its cookies. See the Google Analytics Privacy Policy.
