Kate Dohe (she/her) is the Director of Digital Programs and Initiatives at the University of Maryland Libraries. She oversees a wide portfolio that includes management of Libraries’ platforms and applications, web presence and discovery strategies, digital initiatives, and the production and preservation of digital content. Her research explores the intersection of digital and critical librarianship, and her select publications include “Care, Code, and Digital Libraries: Embracing Critical Practice in Digital Library Communities” (In the Library with the Lead Pipe), and “Precedented: Open Digital Research Practices in Latin America” (with Michael Scott, in Digital Libraries Across Continents).
AI web harvesting bots are different from traditional web crawlers and violate many of the established rules and practices in place. Their rapidly expanding use is emerging as a significant IT management problem for content-rich websites across numerous industries.
