Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to our country, Kęstutis Vaškelevičius.

At the meeting held at the Presidium of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli expressed his pleasure to see the guest at ANAS and spoke about the existing political and economic relations between our countries. He said that in recent years Azerbaijan has played an important role in ensuring Europe's energy security and these broad opportunities have opened the way for the development of relations also in the field of science.

Speaking about the reforms being carried out in the field of science in our country, the head of ANAS said that today many joint international-level research covering the humanities and social sciences are being conducted at the National Academy of Sciences, and there are broad opportunities for establishing relations in this direction, with the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, as well as with Lithuania’s scientific-research and higher education institutions.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli emphasized that a number of scientific institutions of ANAS are cooperating with the relevant institutions of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, and that signing a memorandum of cooperation between the two Academies would be promising for the future.

The ambassador, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the hospitality and conveyed the greetings of the President of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, saying that he had invited Academician Isa Habibbeyli to visit Lithuania. He stated that they are interested in establishing direct cooperation between the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences and ANAS, and noted that he would provide the necessary support for this. He put forward proposals regarding joint scientific projects, exchange of scholars, and the organization of joint events.

An agreement was reached on preparing a memorandum of cooperation between the Academies of Sciences of the two countries and organizing a number of joint events.

Then, commemorative gifts were exchanged.

The guest became acquainted with the building of the Presidium of ANAS. Commemorative photos were also taken.
