Produktion av förnybar energi

Alight develops, operates and owns solar assets for corporations across Europe to accelerate the transition to solar.

Om oss

At Alight, we’re on a mission to kick carbon off the grid by helping energy-intensive businesses switch to solar. We develop, own and operate onsite and offsite solar projects across Europe and sell the clean energy to businesses at a low, fixed cost backed by a power purchase agreement (PPA), always independent of government funding or subsidies. By 2030, we aim to have an installed capacity of at least 5 GW, paving the way for a more sustainable future.

  • At Montel’s Energy Day in Oslo, Alight’s Head of Revenue, Johan Hernström, shared how market forces are reshaping solar economics and why battery storage is now essential for every new project. Falling capture rates, rising imbalance costs and grid tariffs, and more demanding corporate offtakers are driving a fundamental shift. By integrating battery storage, developers can: • Create smarter PPAs with higher capture values • Unlock new revenue streams through trading and ancillary services • Reduce operating costs and balance grid risk In markets like Texas, the UK and California, hybrid solar-plus-storage is already the norm, and Europe is fast catching up. As Johan summarized: the question is no longer whether to add storage — but how to design the optimal configuration and commercial structure for hybrid projects. A summary of the presentation has also been published in Montel's trend report "Trends in the Nordic energy sector 2025". • On November 13th it's time for Solarplaza Summit Finland 2025 to take place again in Helsinki, and we’re proud that our team is involved both behind the scenes (through our Head of Development Alexander Rudberg being on the Advisory Board) as well as on the stage to speak about our rapid Finnish expansion. As Finland’s solar and storage market continues to accelerate, the summit brings together leading IPPs, investors, asset owners, and policymakers to discuss the country’s growing role as one of Europe’s most vibrant renewable energy markets. With a focus on price volatility, energy trading, and new BESS revenue streams, it explores how smarter business models and innovative financing structures can unlock the next phase of large-scale solar deployment in the Nordics. In the session “It’s hard, but possible, to sign a 100 MW PPA in Finland: Let’s break it down.” Joar af Ekenstam and Ossi Ikonen of Alight will join Agnis Vikmanis Autoliv to unpack the fundamentals and key drivers behind Finland’s largest corporate PPA to date – enabling a 100 MW solar park that is currently under construction in Eurajoki, to be commissioned in 2026. Will we see you there? Learn more about the Solarplaza Summit Finland 2025 here: https://lnkd.in/e3cDMr6H

  • Last week, Alight's co-founder and Chief Investment Officer Richard Nicolin joined an onstage panel about energy with Erna Solberg and Jacob Stedman led by Erik Engellau-Nilsson at Nordic Angels' event Angel Prize Summit 2025, where 300 of the Nordic region’s most influential leaders and investors gathered to align innovation, capital, and policy around one shared mission: keeping the Nordics competitive in a world that won’t wait. At Alight, we’re glad to see energy highlighted as one of the priority areas, alongside AI, infrastructure, and defense. Because the energy transition is not just a climate imperative; it’s a competitive advantage. Through long-term power purchase agreements and large-scale solar development, we’re showing how clean energy can strengthen both businesses and national resilience. A big thank you to the Angel Prize team for putting energy high on the agenda — and to everyone pushing for a faster, smarter, and more collaborative transition across the Nordics.

⚡ ENERGY: The Foundation of Progress. No innovation. No infrastructure. No defense — without reliable power. At Angel Prize Summit 2025, we brought together the minds shaping the Nordics’ energy future. From solar to small modular reactors, one message was clear: 👉 The cost and stability of power will define our region’s competitiveness. In a panel led by Erik Engellau-Nilsson, we heard from: – Richard Nicolin (Alight), building the Nordics’ largest solar parks – Jacob Stedman (Blykalla), reinventing nuclear through SMRs – Erna Solberg, Former Prime Minister of Norway They exposed a market full of paradoxes: 🔋 Renewables are cheaper than ever — but low prices stall new investment 🚧 Grids are overloaded, halting progress across the board ⚖️ Solar offers scale and speed. Nuclear brings stability. We need both. “We can produce the power — but can we build fast enough to distribute it?” The panel agreed: Nordic energy policy must be treated like defense — long-term, cross-party, and built to last. 🔜 Up next: the solutions. Meet the companies building the future of energy — on stage at Angel Prize Summit. #AngelPrizeSummit #NordicEnergy #CleanTech #Nuclear #Solar

How did Sweden’s largest solar park come to life? Together with our partner Neoen, we’ve commissioned the 100 MWp solar park at Hultsfred Airport – now delivering renewable energy to H&M Group through a long-term Power Purchase Agreement. 🌞 ⚡ Hultsfred turned out to be the perfect location: high solar irradiation, ideal ground conditions, near grid access, and low impact on community and environment. Building around the runway of the airport, we installed 174,000 panels across 130 hectares - a site that will generate 100 GWh annually, equivalent to the electricity use of 18,000 Swedish homes. The journey from idea to reality was a true team effort, and this video captures how it all came together. At Alight, we love when solar energy does more than one kind of good. One example is our collaboration with sheep farmer Jesper Sundgren from Tormarps Fårfarm, where we combine energy production with agriculture - called agrivoltaics. Jesper's flock have been grazing across our solar park in Halmstad, Sweden between May and October. As winter approaches, it’s time to bring the sheep back home after an season outdoors doing an incredible job keeping the vegetation in perfect shape - while the solar parks have provided them with shade and rich pasture in return. In 2026, Jesper aims to scale up from today’s 130 sheep to more than 1,000, contributing even further enhance biodiversity and sustainable vegetation management in Sweden’s solar parks. Partnerships like this are living examples of how renewable energy and agriculture can truly work hand in hand – optimizing land use by producing both clean power and natural grazing value. A win-win! Thanks Jesper and our wooly friends for a brilliant partnership and a fantastic season! 🌞🐏

  • Today, our CEO Warren Campbell joined the main stage at the Green Power Sweden Summit in Stockholm – where energy leaders, policymakers and innovators gathered to discuss how to secure Europe’s clean energy future. In the session “New Models for Industrial Power Procurement”, Warren shared Alight’s experience of how long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) are reshaping the way corporations and industries buy energy – alongside Fredrik Hedström (Volvo Cars), Marcus Hartmann (H&M), and moderator Niclas Sigholm. Key takeaways from the discussion: 🔆 How PPAs are ensuring stable and predictable electricity prices in an increasingly volatile market. 🔆 As electrification and data center demand grow, securing renewable power through PPAs is becoming a license to operate. 🔆 Long-term contracts don’t just deliver price stability – they accelerate the green transition, promote flexibility, and support the grid. 🔆 Industry pioneers such as H&M are leading the way, targeting 100% renewable electricity by 2030, with at least half sourced through new PPAs. 🔆 The capabilities and PPAs are transforming, and battery storage will be a critical part of the future product. A big thank you to the organizers, fellow speakers, and everyone who joined the conversation at #GreenPowerSweden – let’s keep driving the transition forward ⚡️
