🎃 Pumpkins + calves = Halloween magic! Happy Halloween from DeLaval! Our calves at Hamra Farm had a festive surprise – their first pumpkin – and curiosity was off the charts. The heifers were just as intrigued and couldn’t resist checking it out too. We’d love to know which photo is your favourite. Feel free to reshare your pick with your own Halloween greeting. #DeLaval #WeLiveMilk #TeamBlue #Halloween

We've won another award! 🎉 DeLaval Flow-Responsive™ milking has taken home the Innovation Award in the Sustainability & Technology category at the Rundvee & Mechanisatie Vakdagen (RMV) Hardenberg exhibition in the Netherlands. What makes it so innovative? In the VMS system, Flow-Responsive™ milking technology keeps teat-end vacuum stable for each teat by compensating for the drop that normally occurs as milk flow increases. This helps enable faster milking without exceeding safe vacuum levels. Shorter milking times also mean less overall vacuum exposure, which supports better teat health. The RMV Hardenberg exhibition also gave us the chance to share this breakthrough with Caroline van der Plas (pictured), co-founder and political leader of the BoerBurgerBeweging (Farmer–Citizen Movement), which advocates for farmers and rural communities. And that’s not all – DeLaval Plus recently secured two major awards at the Great Yorkshire Show 2025 in the UK: Overall Winner and Digital Award. Our AI-powered digital service transforms herd data into actionable insights, enabling faster, smarter decisions for improved herd management and efficiency. 🏆 Looking ahead, DeLaval Milk Cell Analysis has been nominated for the Innovation Award at the upcoming RMV Gorinchem exhibition. 🎉 #DeLaval #TeamBlue #WeLiveMilk

Feed waste? Not on dairy farmer Jens Christian Sørensen’s farm. A great example of how technology supports sustainability in dairy farming. Arla Foods #DeLaval #SmartFarming #WeLiveMilk
Omnomnomnomnom 😋🐄 Cows aren’t always that good at finishing what’s on their “plate” 😊🐄 When they are fed, they investigate the feed and sometimes get a little too eager and push some of it away, so they can’t reach it. To make sure that the feed doesn’t go to waste, Arla Farmer Jens Christian Sørensen has invested in a robot that pushes the feed back towards the cows. Besides reducing waste, this also means that Jens Christian and the team at the farm have more time to take care of the cows in other ways 👌

Grand opening of the largest DeLaval VMS™ Batch Milking installation 🎉 On September 4, the largest VMS Batch Milking farm – Fortune Sp. z o.o – was officially inaugurated. Located in Cieszymowo, northern Poland, the facility is equipped with 25 VMS™ V300 robots to milk up to 1,500 cows daily – 24 robots in the main milking parlour and one dedicated to the calving pen. The installation includes not only DeLaval milking equipment, but also our effluent management systems, milk cooling solutions, water troughs – and additional features designed to enhance animal welfare, such as floor mats and cooling systems in the waiting area. We are extremely proud that DeLaval has played a key role in this pioneering investment – an initiative that not only shapes the future of agriculture in Poland but also sets new industry standards and fosters innovation across Europe. Paweł Hupało, Sales Director at DeLaval Poland, says this investment is clear proof of the ongoing evolution and increasing competitiveness of Poland’s dairy farming sector: “I would like to express my deep gratitude to the owners and management of Fortune Sp. z o.o. for their trust, which has enabled DeLaval to play a significant role in this groundbreaking investment. We are witnessing the opening of a new chapter in the history of agriculture – not only in Poland, but also on a global scale. Taking part in this project is both a profound source of pride and a distinct honour for us.” He also adds: “I would also like to express my gratitude to all DeLaval employees and our dealer TechMar. It is through your dedication, teamwork, and enduring focus on quality and innovation that this success has become a reality.” 🎉 Previously, the largest farm to implement batch milking with VMS technology was Lønholm Agro in Denmark, operating 24 DeLaval VMS™ V310 robots. What is VMS™ Batch Milking? VMS™ Batch Milking is a system where cows are milked in scheduled groups using DeLaval’s robotic milking technology. Instead of cows entering the robot individually at any time, they are guided in batches at set intervals – combining the efficiency of traditional milking routines with the benefits of automation. What a day to remember! 🎉 Yesterday’s inauguration at Hamra Farm was a truly remarkable moment for us at DeLaval – marking the completion of a major expansion that reflects our commitment to sustainable dairy production. The new barns not only boost capacity and bring next-generation dairy technology to life, but also advance our environmental goals. By investing in the latest technology and climate-smart practices, we are shaping a more efficient and responsible future. This expansion is part of a larger vision. Hamra Farm is not merely a farm – it is an innovation hub where new techniques are developed, tested, and refined. Its influence extends far beyond the farm’s gates, playing a pivotal role in DeLaval’s mission to push the boundaries of what is possible in dairy farming. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who made the day so special – especially the teams who worked with such dedication behind the scenes to make it a success. The event was attended by a wide range of distinguished guests, including Peter Kullgren, Minister for Rural Affairs of Sweden (pictured left, with Paul Lofgren, CEO & President of DeLaval) at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Here's to another 130-years of innovation at Hamra Farm! #DeLaval #HamraFarm #TeamBlue #WeLiveMilk

Hamra Farm just got bigger – and smarter. Today DeLaval officially inaugurated the major expansion of Hamra Farm. 🎉 Located in Tumba, Sweden, Hamra Farm serves as DeLaval’s commercial dairy farm and key centre for research and training. It’s also recognised as one of the country’s most productive dairy farms. The development – the largest in the farm’s 130-year history – covers 12,000 m² (roughly the size of two football pitches) and includes three new barns: a maternity and calf barn, a heifer barn, and a VMS barn that doubles as a visitor centre. The VMS barn features four DeLaval VMS™ V310 and one DeLaval VMS™ V300. The new facilities enable Hamra Farm to nearly double the number of milking cows – from 260 to 550 – bringing the total herd to over 1,000 animals. This increased capacity will significantly boost milk output and further strengthen support for the dairy industry. Animal welfare has remained the top priority throughout the planning and design process. Every detail – from barn layout and milking systems to bedding, swinging cow brushes, and ventilation – has been carefully considered to promote cow comfort. The barns are equipped with advanced technologies to support herd health and reproduction, including artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tools that detect cows at risk of illness. The herd size has also been carefully planned to match the land available for growing feed and managing manure. Hamra Farm remains self-sufficient in grass, maize, and grain. Manure is collected and spread on the same fields to maintain soil health and reduce reliance on commercial fertilisers – supporting a closed nutrient cycle. Key upgrades when fully operational • New VMS barn housing up to 350 cows, also serving as the Visitor Centre. • Purpose-built maternity and calf barn designed for 200 calves aged 0–5 months. • Dedicated heifer barn with space for 350 heifers aged 5–24 months. • Refurbished original VMS barn accommodating 60 dry cows. • Equipped with DeLaval’s latest digital technologies, including AI-powered disease risk models, automated somatic cell counters, behaviour analysis tools, and swinging cow brushes. • Expanded Research and Development (R&D) barn with capacity for 165 cows, supporting DeLaval’s collaborations with academic institutions and researchers. Paul Löfgren, President & CEO of DeLaval, says: “Hamra Farm plays a key role in demonstrating what’s possible in modern dairy farming – well beyond its own gates. As we honour the farm’s rich legacy, we also look ahead to a future defined by progress, enhanced environmental responsibility, and the integration of advanced technology. We are improving the way people experience Hamra Farm – making it easier to engage with and learn from the innovations shaping the future of dairy. Having Hamra Farm right beside our headquarters is a unique advantage, and one we are extremely proud of.” We are definitely proud of this achievement - #TeamBlue! #DeLaval #TeamBlue #HamraFarm

Crowds, cameras, cheese and cows! The first commercially manufactured VMS™ V300 2025 models were a crowd favourite at northern Germany’s largest agricultural exhibition, the Tarmstedter Ausstellung. Both the left- and right-sided configurations were on display – each robot bore the serial number 0001, confirming their status as the very first units off the production line. Much like left and right shoes, these configurations refer to which side the cows can enter the robot from, making it easy to adapt to the layout and workflow of different dairy farms. To bring the innovation to life, we partnered with a local VMS farmer whose Fleckvieh cows stayed in the DeLaval tent throughout the event and were milked live. Visitors witnessed the robots in action, with around 2,000 litres of milk collected. The magic didn’t stop at the milking station. The milk was then transformed into fresh cheese by Heidi’s mobile Käserei, a mobile dairy that produced several varieties on-site, including natural, fenugreek and herb blends. Now fully ripened, the cheese has been sent to lucky customers in Germany. DeLaval GmbH employees in Germany also received a cheese package in August – a small but meaningful thank-you for a successful event. The new VMS models have proven extremely popular, thanks to features such as integration with DeLaval Plus – our artificial intelligence (AI)-powered digital service that helps farmers gain deeper herd insights and manage their operations more efficiently, Flow-Responsive Milking™, and a larger box design to accommodate a wider range of cow breeds and sizes. A tasty and rewarding event – a win–win! #DeLaval #TeamBlue #WeLiveMilk
