In Kuala Lumpur this week to present the mentee cohort for the new Amplifier 2025 Tourism track alongside Shamina Singh, President and Founder of the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, at the inaugural Mastercard ASEAN Inclusive Growth Summit. The Tourism track aims to advance SME supplier sustainability across Asia. The three selected impact organisations have shown promising innovations in this space. With support from Mastercard as an Impact Innovation Partner, each mentee will receive S$100,000 in catalytic funding, mentorship, and access to a regional ecosystem of support. 🔹 AlterPacks (Singapore) transforms agricultural waste into high-performance, compostable alternatives. 🔹 Green Rebel Foods (Southeast Asia) makes plant-based proteins accessible and affordable. 🔹 N&E Innovations Pte Ltd (Singapore) converts food waste into antibacterial packaging and agriculture post-harvest coating solutions. Last month, we also unveiled the Amplifier 2025 Textiles track mentees — Baytech - HMS (HandMadeStone), Haelixa, Novoloop, and unspun™ — who are innovating in circularity, traceability, and sustainable production across the fashion value chain. The Textiles track is supported by Impact Innovation Partner SHEIN and the Singapore Fashion Council as a strategic partner. The Amplifier is a global mentorship programme led by the Centre for Impact Investing and Practices (CIIP) and Philanthropy Asia Alliance with support from 70+ partners, helping early-stage impact ventures scale across Asia. The Centre for Impact Investing and Practices (CIIP) and Philanthropy Asia Alliance (PAA) are excited to unveil the mentee cohort for the Amplifier 2025’s Sustainability Transformation for SME Suppliers in Tourism track at the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth's 2025 ASEAN Inclusive Growth Summit Changemakers Day, organised in partnership with the ASEAN-BAC - Malaysia. Three mentees were chosen after a rigorous selection process following workshops conducted across Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore. In addition to industry mentorship and sectoral and market insights, each mentee will receive up to S$100K in catalytic capital supported by our Impact Innovation Partner Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth. Each mentee will also receive tailored support in the form of training, pro bono consulting, and mentorship from a broad network of over 70 multi-sector partners. Using a whole-of-ecosystem approach, the Amplifier brings partners together to help impact-driven companies scale their presence and impact in Asia by growing their operations and strategic connections. The cohort was selected for their strong alignment with the track’s impact themes; demonstrated commitment to sustainability, evidence of early customer traction; and clear, scalable business plans. The Amplifier 2025 Tourism track mentee cohort comprises: 🍽 AlterPacks (SG): Upcycling food by-products and agricultural waste into scalable, 100% plant-based materials that replace single-use plastics across tourism, hospitality, food service, and healthcare 🥘 Green Rebel Foods (ID): Democratising sustainable protein with deliciously healthy and affordable products. Green Rebel Foods provides flavours and textures that consumers love, made from local & natural ingredients. 🧴 N&E Innovations Pte Ltd (SG): Tackling the problem of global food waste by using upcycled food waste technologies through antibacterial food packaging and agriculture post-harvest coating solutions. I was delighted to see this comment today in the discussion boards of our recently launched free course on Coursera, called Building Financial Models for Entrepreneurs: 🗣️ "This is the most practical and easy to follow simplified package on Impact Investment that encapsulates all the nitty gritty. This is an excellent work done." 💰 In this course, we help impact enterprises learn the process of figuring out how much and what kind of capital they really need. First, we help them build a customized financial model using our Excel template. They learn the main levers that investors consider and become fluent in describing how those levers work in their business. Then they then can define their funding gap, test investment scenarios, and plan their future financing needs with confidence. By the end of the module, they are able to more confidently interpret and explain financial projections, evaluate investment offers, and make informed decisions about raising capital. Also, we don't just include plain debt and equity - we've incorporated 12 different capital types used by impact investors globally. Entrepreneurs can even model "blended" capital from multiple sources and see the effects of negotiating financing terms. 💡 And here's a secret I tell my students: if you want to become an impact investor, or a better one, this will also help you understand how to evaluate financial models as part of the diligence process. #CIIP is pleased to congratulate colleagues from Bappenas on the publication of the White Paper ‘Unveiling the Future of Sustainable Business through Empowering Green MSMEs’. Developed in collaboration between Bappenas, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR), and with the support of the Government of Australia through the Sustainable Infrastructure Assistance Program Phase 2, the paper presents a strategic framework to mainstream green and sustainable practices among MSMEs in Indonesia. The white paper provides a clear and actionable roadmap for MSME transformation, including the establishment of a green MSME classification, the provision of incentives, capacity-building initiatives, and the design of a regulatory framework. We are heartened that the White Paper cites key statistics on ESG practice adoption from CIIP’s report ‘Transforming for Sustainability: Driving Impact and Value through Supply Chain Action’. The report also cites as an example the SDG Venture Scaler, a programme designed by CIIP in partnership with UNDP Sustainable Finance to mobilise private investment and support for growth-stage enterprises in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, with particular emphasis on climate action, education, and healthcare. CIIP looks forward to continuing to support initiatives in Indonesia and the rest of the region through its research and insights as well as catalytic partnerships.
