This new investment follows RM1.6 billion previously invested, making the total RM2.7 billion. The expansion will increase Biocon’s insulin production at its Bio-XCell facility in Iskandar Malaysia. Johor’s Trade and Investment Committee Chairman, YB Lee Ting Han, stated that the expansion will help make Johor a key player in global biotechnology. The facility, Asia’s largest integrated insulin plant, has already supplied over 87 million insulin cartridges, benefiting 300,000 patients, and reduced insulin prices by 40%. The expansion will create 300+ skilled jobs, bringing the total workforce to nearly 1,200, mostly filled by Malaysians, especially from Johor. Biocon is also working with local universities to train talent in biotechnology and life sciences. In addition to its economic impact, Biocon supports local communities through the Biocon Foundation, focusing on healthcare, education, sustainability, and rural development. This ongoing investment shows Biocon’s confidence in Johor’s economy and infrastructure, further boosting its global biotech reputation. #InvestJohor #MajuJohor #Johor #Investment #MajuJohor2030 #JSSEZ
