From courtroom advocacy to shaping the written record of Singapore law — our lawyers continue to make their mark beyond practice.   We are delighted that our Joel Leow (廖伟祥), Associate Director in our Dispute Resolution team, has co-authored the Conflict of Laws chapter in the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) Annual Review of Singapore Cases (2024).   The Review distils important 2024 Singapore decisions on conflict of laws (also known as private international law) issues commonly seen in disputes with cross-border elements. The Review, which has previously been cited by local courts and local and foreign academics, is a useful resource for practitioners, judges and academics. Joel’s contribution reflects the depth, rigour and thought leadership that our colleagues bring to the law every day.   The chapter referred to was published in the SAL Ann Rev on 19 September 2025 on Journals Online. In this recent feature, we speak with three voices across different stages of their legal journeys — Eliora Joseph (Fresh Graduate),Ng Yuan Siang (Young Lawyer), and Samantha Lim (Law Librarian). Their reflections capture the full arc of preparation, practice, and future promise. Eliora looks to a future where access to justice is normalised and young lawyers are supported in building sustainable careers. Ng Yuan Siang cautions that while efficiency has its benefits, the profession must preserve its sense of purpose and create space for meaningful work. And from the perspective of education, Samantha envisions a more inclusive and resilient legal learning environment that keeps pace with technology while staying open to diverse pathways. These reflections capture the spirit of a new generation, intent on shaping a legal system that is principled, inclusive, purposeful and ready to chart the course toward SG70.
