IN-SPACe, in its endeavour to nurture and strengthen the private space ecosystem in the country, is pleased to announce the IN-SPACe Seed Fund Scheme for Use Case Demonstration by NGEi using Space Technology. The scheme aims to support NGEi in developing and demonstrating innovative, user-oriented solutions by facilitating the development and realization of advanced space technologies and products. Under this scheme, IN-SPACe invites proposals from NGEi for pilot demonstrations using space technology. Upon successful demonstration, it is expected that NGEi may secure confirmed orders from intended users for further development and delivery of their products. This initiative is designed to create sustainable demand for NGEi in the space sector while bridging the gap between user requirements and market-ready products. Under this Seed Fund Scheme, the following areas of opportunity are being announced for NGEi to develop innovative solutions: Pest and disease forewarning & early detection of biotic stress in major crops of India At IN-SPACe, we are committed to promote and work with space start-ups and industries, that share our vision of using space technology to solve the challenges faced by common man. "Airbus’s Singapore branch is teaming up with researchers from Indonesia’s Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in West Java to develop sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from biomass. The project aims to produce up to 100 million tonnes of SAF annually using organic feedstocks such as crop residues, wood, and plant waste. Current SAF production largely relies on used cooking oil, palm oil waste, and low-grade vegetable oils - sources with limited supply due to competition with food. According to Meika Syahbana Rusli, Director of IPB’s Surfactant and Bioenergy Research Centre (SBRC), Indonesia can supply as much as 500 million tonnes of biomass annually - five times Airbus’ needs. Most of the supply will come from empty palm fruit bunches in Sumatra and Kalimantan, and large volumes of rice straw in Java. 🌱 🌏 New report: How can renewable #hydrogen power Southeast Asia’s #energytransition? Together with the NewClimate Institute, and as part of the CASE for Southeast Asia project, we recently published a technology brief that examines the outlook for renewable hydrogen-based power generation in #SoutheastAsia, from co-firing to 100% hydrogen- or ammonia-firing. The brief assesses its potential role alongside the associated risks, offering policy considerations for governments to evaluate renewable hydrogen’s place in broader energy transition strategies. Key insights from the brief: 💡 Renewable hydrogen adds value as seasonal storage and peaking capacity. 💡 Co-firing hydrogen and ammonia in coal and gas plants offers limited emission reductions at relatively high costs. Scaling renewables and grids offer a lower-cost route to reach climate targets.
