Add editing tools to Photos on Mac
You can download and install app extensions (also called plug-ins) to provide new editing tools in Photos. For example, third-party apps may provide specialised filters or other photo adjustments.
Download and add apps from the App Store
In the Photos app
on your Mac, double-click a photo, then click Edit in the toolbar.Click the Extensions button
in the editing toolbar.Choose App Store and search for apps you want to add to Photos, then follow the onscreen instructions to download and open an app.
The app now appears when you click the Extensions button in the editing toolbar in Photos. If the app doesn’t appear, see Turn app extensions on or off.
Use third-party apps while editing photos
In the Photos app
on your Mac, double-click a photo, then click Edit in the toolbar.Click the Extensions button
in the editing toolbar, then choose the app you want to use. Follow the onscreen instructions when opening an app.
You can use a combination of apps and built-in Photos editing tools to change a photo. When you click the Extensions button in the editing toolbar and choose an app, the extension or app opens with your photo active. Make your changes, save the photo and close the app window. In the Photos window showing your changes, click Save Changes, and the changed photo appears in the editing view. After editing a photo, you can restore the original by clicking Revert to Original.
Turn app extensions on or off
In the Photos app
on your Mac, double-click a photo, then click Edit in the toolbar.Click the Extensions button
in the editing toolbar, choose Manage, then click Photo Editing.Select the tickbox of the app extension you want to use.
The app now appears when you click the Extensions button in the editing toolbar in Photos. Deselect a tickbox to turn that extension off.
