Through ZIPOSA, young people are gaining practical skills in tailoring, carpentry, linguistics, and more, opening doors to employment, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning. UNICEF congratulates all the graduates and commends the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar for its continued investment in education and youth empowerment. When 13-year-old Salimu was pulled from the water after nearly drowning, his oxygen levels were critically low. But at his district hospital in Tanzania, health workers trained in Essential Emergency and Critical Care (EECC) were ready. ✅ Oxygen therapy was started immediately ✅ Aspiration pneumonia was diagnosed and treated ✅ Monitoring and supportive care helped him recover This rapid, coordinated response wasn’t chance — it was the result of system-wide preparedness through the EECCiT programme, supported by UNICEF Tanzania and Global Affairs Canada’s CanGive initiative. Children are taking action on the frontlines of climate change 🌿 Students at Kisiwa Panza Secondary School in Pemba are planting mangrove trees as part of a climate action initiative under the ROTA project, a partnership between the Ministry of Education #Zanzibar, UNICEF Tanzania and Education Above All Foundation. Mangroves play a vital role in protecting shorelines from erosion, helping ensure a sustainable future #ForEveryChild in Zanzibar.

We’re celebrating #InternationalDayOfTheGirlChild 💙 This year’s theme, “Hear Our Voices, End Child Marriage”, calls on all of us to listen to girls’ voices in #EndingChildMarriage. Meet Mariam, a 15-year-old from Tabora, who this week took over as UNICEF Representative for the day. Just a year ago, Mariam was forced to leave school and was at risk of being married off at a young age. But through the Integrated Programme for Out-of-School Adolescents (IPOSA), supported by UNICEF Tanzania and Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada, she found a second chance. Today, she is learning tailoring, gaining digital skills, and speaking up for every girl’s right to education and protection. Together with Plan International and partners, we stand with girls across #Tanzania who are demanding their right to choose their own future.
