"After the huge impact of Adolescence, I realised there was a greater need for communication between fathers and sons. We want to hear from men of all ages, first-time fathers, absent fathers, fathers who’ve been there but never truly been there, fathers who’ve lost and fathers who just want to find a way to say I love you, to tell their sons what they mean to them and to talk openly about what it means to be a man." Emmy-winning actor Stephen Graham OBE is working with psychology lecturer Orly Klein on a major new project asking fathers to write a letter to their sons about what it means to be a man. For every letter published, Graham and Klein will be making a donation to the charities MANUP? and Comic Relief-funded support group Dad La Soul, two organisations that are helping young men struggling with mental health. We had a brilliant time at Bristol Central Library for a SOLD OUT Bloomsbury Institute event last week, kindly sponsored by Inspired Selection. Over 120 people joined us to hear from literary agent Juliet Pickering, Bristol University Press production editor Jessica Mitwright and publishing recruitment specialist Alice Bidetti, who gave insights into their careers in books and advice for landing a role in the industry. So far this year, the Bloomsbury Institute has visited Cardiff and Bradford and hosted three online panels, with more to come. Another episode of Inside Publishing that I am incredibly proud of: interviewing Elizabeth Kellingley, winner of the Trailblazer Award at this years London Book Fair. Unable to attend the winners panel at LBF, I was fortunate enough to sit down with Elizabeth, one to one, over a video call to discuss all things publishing. For anyone unfamiliar with Elizabeth's work she has made incredible strides at Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, paving the way for accessibility in the industry; from the introduction of dyslexia friendly novels for adults, to the creation of an entirely new role in the business. I can't think of a better reason to win the Trailblazer Award and I'm very excited to see what Elizabeth does next. ✨📖 For over 6 million UK adults, reading just got easier 📖✨ We are proud to announce our new range of Dyslexia-Friendly Editions. In a publishing first, 11 iconic bestselling adult books will be available in a format designed specifically to support adults with dyslexia. The list includes the award-winning Just Kids by Patti Smith, Baek Se-hee’s chart-topping I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki and Bal Khabra’s TikTok sensation Collide, among other titles. The books will be available in bookstores and online from Thursday 23rd October 2025! Dyslexia affects around one in 10 adults in the UK. With these editions, we hope to set a new standard for inclusion. Our aim is simple: more readers, more often, with fewer barriers. Together with our pilot in 2024, we now have 20 Dyslexia-Friendly Editions to choose from.
