Mid-sized businesses are vital to Africa’s economic growth but often face barriers to accessing the finance they need to grow. We see private credit funds as a powerful tool to address the financing gap for such businesses across Africa. That’s why we’ve provided an anchor commitment to the Enko Capital Impact Credit Fund, which has raised $100 million at first close. The fund will provide flexible capital to companies in key sectors such as agriculture, telecommunications, manufacturing, renewable energy, and financial services. By supporting this fund, we aim to prove the commercial potential of private credit in Africa, helping to grow the asset class and mobilise more capital to enable local businesses to scale sustainably. Our CEO Leslie Maasdorp met with President of the African Development Bank Group, Sidi Ould Tah, on the sidelines of the #WBGMeetings. We are continuing to develop our partnership and explore opportunities in the everchanging world of development finance. President of the African Development Bank Group, Sidi Ould Tah, met with the British International Investment CEO Leslie Maasdorp on the sidelines of the #WBGMeetings. They discussed strengthening partnership opportunities ahead of the upcoming #ADF17 Replenishment pledge meeting in London. The African Development Fund (ADF) is the Bank Group’s concessional window, dedicated to supporting Africa’s low-income countries with vital grants and low-interest loans for infrastructure, social services, and economic development, driving inclusive growth across the continent. This engagement underscores the shared commitment to mobilising resources, fostering investment, and accelerating development outcomes for Africa’s most vulnerable populations.
