C40 Cities and the City of Milan win big at the 'Oscars of Design' 🏆 Our joint campaign with the city of Milan has been recognised by ADI Design Museum in Italy and selected as one of the top 20 communications projects of 2025. This shows the power of value-driven campaigns and how people-centred approaches can turn policy into real change. The aim of the ‘Milano Futura Ora’ campaign was to help residents claim back space to walk, cycle and move easily - connecting Mayor Sala’s policies on clean air, safer streets and active mobility to everyday life, with a particular focus on children and the elderly. From city billboards to branded trams and training for over 300 local people, the campaign, which was seen over 25 million times, turned policy into people-powered action. Thank you to Leftloft, Daniele Morganti and all our partners who made the campaign a success.

C40 is a network of nearly 100 world-leading cities taking urgent action to confront the climate crisis. 🌳 🚴♀️
About us
C40 is a network of nearly 100 mayors of the world’s leading cities who are working to deliver the urgent action needed right now to confront the climate crisis and create a future where everyone, everywhere, can thrive. Mayors of C40 cities are committed to using a science-based and people-focused approach to limit global heating in line with the Paris Agreement and build healthy, equitable, and resilient communities. Through a Global Green New Deal, mayors are working alongside a broad coalition of representatives from labour, business, the youth climate movement and civil society to go further and faster than ever before. The current co-chairs of C40 are Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and Mayor of Freetown Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr. Three-term Mayor of New York City Michael R. Bloomberg serves as President of the Board. C40’s work is made possible by our three strategic funders: Bloomberg Philanthropies, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and Realdania.

🍽️ Did you know that food systems drive up to one-third of global emissions? While the food choices we make in cities shape today’s climate challenge, cities also hold the power to solve it. As global centres of innovation and consumption, they are uniquely positioned to create real change, and that change starts when businesses and city governments work together. Is the state of the world stressing you out? Climate anxiety is a normal and valid response. Remember: you are not alone, and it’s not possible to pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself is what’s needed to take care of others and the planet. #WorldMentalHealthDay Artwork by: Wyda Swestika

Latin America is proving that walking and cycling can do much more than move people. By promoting climate-friendly modes of transport, cities in the region are tackling inequality, creating good green jobs and improving health. C40 Cities’ new report spotlights how Bogotá is making school journeys safer, Fortaleza is supporting recyclers with green jobs and Lima is cutting air pollution. These initiatives show how people-centred transport can build more just and resilient cities.
