Inequalities in care will continue to rise without targeted action. Older people, people with dementia, people with a learning disability, and those with complex mental health needs – are more likely to struggle to navigate services, often meaning their families and unpaid carers carry increasing burdens. People living in the most deprived areas in England experience significantly poorer outcomes across multiple measures, with deprivation creating a cascade of disadvantage in access to healthcare. Children and young people in the most deprived communities are nearly 3.5 times more likely to need to have their teeth extracted in hospital because of decay Our State of Care report highlights a risk that without targeted action, inequalities will continue to increase.
