An incredible result for the Scotch whisky industry at the The Distillers One of One® Auction last Friday with The Glenlivet SPIRA 60 Year Old breaking records! The Glenlivet SPIRA 60 Year Old achieved a record selling price of £650,000 — the highest bid ever recorded for the brand at auction and highest ever single bottle lot record at The Distillers One of One auctions to date. Aberlour “The Mouth of the Chattering Burn”, an incredible 53 Year Old single malt, also sold for an exceptional £60,000, more than 20% over its high estimate, marking a strong first step into the auction world for the brand. Together with another 34 Scotch Whisky distilleries we have shown collective Scotch whisky industry commitment to community and positive change, helping The Distillers One of One raise more than £2.9 million for the Youth Action Fund (Inspiring Scotland) in support of disadvantaged young people in Scotland. #ChivasBrothers Please enjoy our brands responsibly.

Turns out making world class whisky takes a sharp nose, a science background…and maybe a little bit of magic ✨🥃 Say hello to Adam Ritchie, Assistant Blending Technician, who noses up to 1,500 samples a week (yes, really), and Shay Docherty, Senior Liquid NPD Specialist, who mixes science with fresh ideas to dream up the next big flavour. Together, you’ll often find them in “the bowling alley” – our warehouse lined with endless rows of casks – before heading to the blending room, where many samples are lined up, tested, and perfected through what’s known as organoleptic analysis (that’s assessing flavour, aroma and mouthfeel using the senses). In this episode of Secret Ingredient, Adam and Shay prove that the real magic behind every bottle is a mix of skill, curiosity and, of course, teamwork.
