🛡️ SOAMEVA: Advancing Child Health Through Vaccination The SOAMEVA project continues to strengthen its field actions to ensure that every child is protected against vaccine-preventable diseases.🧒💉 Earlier this october, our team conducted a second vaccination round in the Ankily community with Belindo Primary Health Center, reaching 48 children during the activity. This initiative reflects our shared commitment with Madagascar's Ministry of Public Health, the national expanded programme on immunization (DPEV), local health centers, and community stakeholders to build a healthier future for children across the country. Every vaccinated child represents a step forward in preventing disease and safeguarding tomorrow’s generation. 🌱 At Doctors for Madagascar, we remain dedicated to supporting equitable access to essential health services and to advancing child well-being through vaccination. ⚖️🌍 Riana Samoelina RAMANANTSOA Julius Emmrich Nadine Muller Maurin Mananantitra Christian RAVELOMAHAFALY

In Analabo, 65km from Toliara, residents are working together to vaccinate their children! 👨👩👧👦 From health workers to young people, they are participating in reducing vaccine-preventable diseases. Manso is one of these active young people: during the vaccination carried out as part of the #SOAMEVA project, he volunteered to hold the children while the health workers vaccinated them. 👦 At just 19 years old, Manso is already a role model for his village in Analabo. 💉 He is convinced that vaccinations protect children! 🙌We are grateful to all the actors who are participating in building a healthy society through vaccinations! You are showing that children's health is a shared responsibility. #Health #Solidarity #Vaccines Riana Samoelina RAMANANTSOA Julius Emmrich Nadine Muller

💙 Innovating Community Health Financing in Madagascar with the TIA LONGO Project Through TIA LONGO, community savings groups, called "VOAMAMI", go beyond helping members save money. They also integrate a health fund, an innovative solidarity mechanism that ensures access to healthcare even in times of financial difficulty. 🔎 How it works: The community savings group and the health center sign a partnership contract, and when a member is sick, they can seek treatment at the partner health center. The costs are then covered by the group’s health fund, managed transparently by elected community representatives, and settled directly with the health facility. 💡 This approach, akin to community-based health insurance, enhances families’ resilience to unforeseen expenses and strengthens access to essential healthcare services. At Doctors for Madagascar, we believe that financial protection is a cornerstone of equitable healthcare. Projects like TIA LONGO demonstrate how community-driven solutions can foster solidarity and sustainable health systems. #healthcare #financialinclusion #Madagascar Riana Samoelina RAMANANTSOA Julius Emmrich Nadine Muller

🌍 Training to Save Lives – Strengthening Partnerships for Community Health 📅 In Toliara, the MAFY project brought together 40 Community Health Workers for their first training session. This milestone reflects a shared commitment to protect communities from High Blood Pressure 🫀 and Stroke 🧠 – two major health challenges in Madagascar. Through interactive sessions with the project team, Community Health Workers strengthened their ability to: • Raise awareness in their communities about high blood pressure and stroke 📢 ; • Recognize early warning signs of a stroke 👀 ; • Conduct community-based hypertension screening and follow-up 🩺 ; • Practice case management for these diseases at community level 🧾 💡 This achievement is a powerful reminder that partnerships are at the heart of sustainable impact and essential in the fight against non-communicable diseases. Beyond theoretical knowledge, these skills are lifesaving tools that extend healthcare access 🏥 to communities in remote areas of Madagascar. Riana Samoelina RAMANANTSOA Julius Emmrich Nadine Muller

🔬 Research, a pillar of our work At Doctors for Madagascar, we believe that every intervention must be firmly rooted in local realities. For instance, we collaborate with the University of Tulear to strengthen the relevance and impact of our projects in Madagascar. 📚 As part of the University's Education and Employment Fair, happening in Tulear from 22 to 24 september 2025, we presented our activities and exchanged ideas with students, researchers, and various development actors. 🎤 And today, our Country Director also spoke at the parallel conference, highlighting Doctors for Madagascar's place in the region's academic and professional environment. 💡 This collaboration illustrates the importance of research and academic collaboration in building sustainable solutions for health, and we are eager to continue toward a lasting impact for Malagasy communities in the Atsimo Andrefana, Anosy, and Androy region.
