Katie Taylor, PhD Taylor reflects on the Assistive Technology Expo, sharing how building a world where access is just there means truly understanding people’s needs, thinking big, and pushing beyond what is currently possible - breaking down unnecessary barriers to create greater outcomes for all. #Everway #Accessibility #AssistiveTechnology #Neuroinclusion #EverwayTeam
Helping people understand and be understood through universally designed technology that builds independence and agency for academic success.
At the University of Colorado Boulder Assistive Technology Expo yesterday, the theme that spoke the loudest to me was a reminder of the starfish story and how it matters to that one [teacher or student]. We spoke to students, parents, relative services professionals and Assistive Technology specialists. We talked about big dreams of inclusion and universal design for learning. We talked through individual student scenarios to district wide initiatives, even expanding to higher education and workplace applications. Building a world where access is just there means taking the needs of people, thinking big and pushing pass what’s currently possible and breaking down unnecessary barriers for greater outcomes. Knowing that this important work matters to that one [person]. Schedule a meeting with me this week for that one that matters. Accessibility isn’t optional - it’s essential. With more than 1 in 5 potential consumers having a disability and nearly 1 in 5 working-age adults living with one, creating accessible and inclusive spaces matters now more than ever. We believe that neuroinclusion must extend beyond words into real-world action, and that’s why we’re proud to announce our new partnership with JAM Card for Business and NOW Group, advancing our mission to unlock potential so everyone can achieve more. The JAM Card (Just A Minute) empowers people with learning difficulties, autism, or communication barriers to discreetly ask for a little extra patience in public and business settings. It was lovely to welcome Danielle McKernan from Everway and Phil Moss to Croxteth this morning to show off how powerful the use of Read & Write on our iPads is for supporting writing lessons. All of our KS1 children were so engaged with using the platform and it enabled some of our SEND learners to really thrive. Thank you both for your visit! #Everway #PedTech
