Law firm HFW has hired Marni Isaacson as a Geneva-based senior associate in its trade finance team. HFW says Isaacson’s dual qualification in New York and New Jersey “increases the firm’s offering for the firm’s trading clients and banks financing trade and inventory flows with the US and Latin America”, which are typically governed by New York law.

BNP Paribas has said a €190mn fraud charge linked to receivables financing in its global markets division is linked to “new entries” with “low collateralisation”. The Paris-headquartered lender made a €190mn “cost of risk” charge in relation to a specific credit event in its Q3 earnings report. Group chief financial officer Lars Machenil told analysts on an earnings call that the incident relates to a file in its global markets division and is “to be considered as a fraud case”.

Creditors of collapsed trade finance firm Stronghold Global Finance are owed at least £1.28mn and may not receive any disbursements from the company’s estate. Liquidators have said they are considering the "viability of bringing a number of claims against third parties" as part of the recovery process.

Trade finance platform Mitigram has named Joshua Kroeker as its chief executive and announced the departure of previous leader Pedram Tadayon. Kroeker joined Mitigram in early 2024. The fintech said he “brings a wealth of international experience and a distinguished record in advancing trade finance digitalisation through emerging technologies and bank collaboration”.
