Really honoured to be judging the SantanderX UK Awards semi-finals next week, thanks Remy Foucher for your trust! I’m excited to share that I’ve been selected to join the next cohort of the Female Founders Rise Fundraising Accelerator. The programme supports female entrepreneurs who are actively raising investment, and I’m delighted to be part of it as I raise funding for the zumi - pet care app ~ connecting pet parents with Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) for trusted, at-home pet care. zumi offers Registered Vet Nurses flexible ways to work while giving pet owners easy access to trusted, affordable pet care. zumi supports vet practice teams and promotes trust within the pet care community. Home-visiting RVNs can spot early health issues, provide supportive care, and refer pets back to veterinary practices ~ improving animal welfare and strengthening client relationships. They can also provide professional pet services such as dog walking, pet sitting, drop-in visits, and long-term health care, giving owners peace of mind that their pets are cared for by qualified, regulated professionals. Our story began at a FemTech conference in 2024; we bonded as two of the only founders speaking openly about inclusion. 💥 From advisor to founder — the tables have turned. A little-known fact: I spent years working with startups on programmes backed by Innovate UK, from funding to mentoring and accelerator support to joining startups like Fiit - now ONE FIIT in the early days and designing, building and running their Content Production Studio from the ground up. Now the tables have turned 🤩 I’m on the other side, as part of the Female Founders Rise Accelerator led by the inspirational Emmie Faust (with support from Dan Bowyer and a brilliant team). It feels full-circle, going from helping founders build, to building something of my own and being supported in the process. I've looked at several accelerators and this one felt different. Having attended a few of their brilliant events + more recently teamed up with Marc Cohen on swapping pitches for Standup Comedy! (a wild and fun ride - still buzzing) I knew I'd be in great company. I co-founded Wellcast App with James Saunders (and two other stealth mode co-founders), a two-sided platform reimagining how fitness and wellness content is discovered, personalised, and monetised. It gives creators visibility and sustainable income, and offers users endless, personalised ways to move and improve their wellbeing. Huge game changer! We've been boot strapping and deep in MVP build, now opening our pre-seed funding round & this couldn't be a more perfect timing! Excited to announce that we are on the Female Founders Rise Accelerator! 🥳 As female founders supporting new parents, sadly the stats about low investment in female teams in tech (just 2%!), come as no surprise. Especially in an industry not always appreciated by typical investors (despite being a direct market of over £2bn!) So to be joining an accelerater for people like us is an amazing privilege! Happity is on a mission to create a world where no new parent feels alone. We do that by helping parents to find baby and toddler classes local to them to build their community. We also have a top-notch, industry specific booking system that providers use to sort all their admin and booking needs - which helps MORE (predominantly female founded) business to thrive! The baby & toddler class market was SO fragmented when we had our kids - with parents sitting at home not aware of classes near them (or worse getting out to them only to find them no longer on / full!) And providers were often still using pen & paper for registers, bank transfers for payment, and haphazard emailing if things changed last minute. So Sara Tateno and I set up Happity to make the experience of new parents and class providers easier, more fun, and better! As a survivor of Post-Natal Depression this was particularly important to me as I knew personally just how much getting out and building community makes a difference to mental health. We have just opened our raise to new investors - because we have seen HUGE growth over the last few months, and we are ready to SCALE!
