At firstminute, we back exceptional founders. But nothing prepared me for Osman and Aymeric's story. Osman Ramadan learned to code from a book. No computer. No internet. Just a coding book his brother brought to their rural Sudanese village in 2005. While sectarian violence erupted around him, he kept coding. He was shot at a protest (a bullet hit a rock that exploded and injured him). His family home was bombed while they were fundraising for their startup. He became the 3rd top student in Sudan and went to Cambridge to study computer science — then was a machine learning scientist at at Deepmind spin-out and Microsoft. Aymeric Zhuo grew up in French Guiana — where 1 in 3 people are illiterate. His parents fled persecution in China during Mao's cultural revolution. They worked 12-hour days, 7 days a week in their grocery shop. He became a top 10 student nationally. Then built Call of Duty Mobile from $0 to $400M in 4 years. Oh, and he can run a 2h48 marathon. -- Today, they're building Agemo — AI-powered workflow automation that's getting "life-changing" feedback since launch two weeks ago. I myself use it every single day and am completely obsessed. We invested alongside Fly Ventures and angels from Zapier, Wayve, Datadog, Deepmind, and Meta. When you've survived bullets, bombs, and broken education systems to get here — you're not going to let up in the race. This is the kind of founder DNA we bet on. 📣 Big news from the healthcare x AI front - and we couldn’t be prouder to share it. Congratulations to Hermine T.. and Alexandru Andrei on the official launch of ClarityCare AI 👏 ClarityCare is building a modern infrastructure layer for healthcare administration - starting with prior authorizations and utilization management - areas that are deeply broken and in urgent need of change. They’ve already processed over 10,000 prior auth requests, reducing average patient wait times by over a week. That’s real-world impact, fast. 💡 The team has just announced their $3.5m seed round, where we invested alongside Maverick Capital, Top Harvest Capital, Entrepreneurs First, Transpose Platform - and some phenomenal angels including Thomas Clozel, Olivier Pomel, and Mathilde Collin. We're proud to be alongside them on this journey. We backed Hermine and Alex because of their rare combination of deep domain insight, clear focus, and relentless execution. They’re solving a problem that affects millions - and building a company that could transform how healthcare works in the background. If you work in medical management or know the pain of legacy admin systems, take a look at what ClarityCare is building - and reach out to the team directly. Lina Wenner Lorcan Delaney

What a week diving into all things health security in Geneva at the World Health Organization and United Nations as a Fellow with the Johns Hopkins Emerging Leaders in Biosecurity Initiative. Capping it off with a day at the UK Cabinet Office back in London for a discussion of the UK national crisis response strategy Great engaging with leaders from INTERPOL, Open Nuclear Network, WHO Health Emergencies Program, United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs and UN Biological Weapons Convention working group across topics ranging from AI x bio, dual use tech, and epidemic + pandemic preparedness The role of science and tech in contributing to global health goals has never felt more key And in the face of the current public health funding landscape and shift away from multilateralism, the potential of entrepreneurship to drive outsized impact is clear Shoutout to the firstminute capital portfolio contributing here: Lindus Health, Nabla, Relation, Automata, Dayhoff Labs and many more Other considerations from the week • AI: realizing the potential impact across bio and overall health systems operations requires a new approach to talent integration and a modern + nimble governance regime • Comms and perception: understanding health challenges as threats to national security is a useful/necessary (re)contextualisation in the current geopolitical and investment environment (I shared my thoughts with Sifted on the role of bio within the defense funding frenzy - more in comments) Thank you to the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security and all the ELBI fellows and alumni for the experience - such an honor learning from and being part of such an incredible community!

Sometimes stars align.... Thesis on a space (AI enabled services), applied to an industry (Insurance claims), an awesome founding team that set up shop across the road from you (Pavel G. German Mikulski), a tonne of published content on the space by a colleague who spent a decade at the Financial Times and was founding editor of Sifted (Michael Stothard) and an inbound email to another rockstar colleague (Lorcan Delaney) who knows how to pick them! 3 days later and an awesome sushi dinner that went on a while firstminute capital led the pre-seed round of ClaimSorted alongside Y Combinator Tom Blomfield. Today they announce what surely must be one of the largest seed rounds in Insurtech (Crunchbase?!) with Atomico and Eurazeo. Awesome to be working with Andreas Helbig Katharine McCallum Carole du Fretay Elise Stern on this. Forbes press in comments. firstminute capital Brent Hoberman Spencer Crawley Lina Wenner Michael Stothard Lorcan Delaney Adriana Vitagliano Min Nolan

🚨 Big moment in vertical AI: ClaimSorted just raised $13.3m in their Seed led by Atomico! 🥳 At firstminute, we’re big believers in AI-native companies going deep into verticals - and ClaimSorted is exactly why. The claims space is one of the slowest, most frustrating parts of insurance, and what Pavel G. and German Mikulski are building is pure transformation. 👊 From outdated TPAs to lightning-fast, LLM-powered automation that processes claims 10x faster and cuts payout errors by 20% - this is what vertical AI should look like. 🚀 We backed Pavel and German at seed because: 👉 They lived the pain building their last startup, Fluffy 👉 They’re second-time founders with insane drive and chemistry 👉 They’d already spun out a working prototype with real insurer traction Since then? ClaimSorted has scaled fast and are now working with nearly 30 insurers 🤯. Operating across the US, UK, and Europe - they're just getting started. This is a $200b+ market finally getting the AI-native upgrade it deserves - and we’re so proud to be on the journey from day one. 💥 🥇 Alongside Eurazeo, Y Combinator, Tom Blomfield 💪 📖 Read the Forbes piece here: https://lnkd.in/e_GWDA_6 Sam Endacott Lorcan Delaney Spencer Crawley Michael Stothard Brent Hoberman
