Our key priorities for promoting economic prosperity and protecting the environment are: -To develop the infrastructure and services required for economic, transport and housing growth, and promote a globally competitive environment for investment in the county. -Provide opportunities for all to develop the skills needed to play a full part in Hampshire's economic success. -To conserve and use natural resources more efficiently, protecting Hampshire's environment and quality of life. Progress: -Hampshire is the fourth most visited county in the UK. -£750 million of County Council capital investment is stimulating the Hampshire economy. -Approximately 60% of the Council's spending is with local small and medium sized businesses. -150,000 streetlights have been replaced, with energy consumption reduced by 21% and savings of £140,000 in carbon tax each year. -Less than 8% of the county's household waste is sent to landfill, the lowest figure for any county council in England.

Director of Public Health at Hampshire County Council

Celebrating a Milestone in Public Health Collaboration After more than eight years of successful partnership, Hampshire County Council is proud to mark a significant transition in how residents access emergency contraception. Together with the Integrated Care Board, Community Pharmacy Hampshire & Isle of Wight, our Local Authority partners across the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, and Southampton, and the Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health Service, we’ve enabled thousands of people to access free emergency hormonal contraception through their local pharmacy. Now, we’re entering a new chapter: ➡️ The commissioning of this vital service will move from Hampshire Public Health to NHS national commissioning under the Pharmacy Contraception Service. This change builds on Hampshire’s strong foundation and ensures consistent access to contraception and emergency contraception across the county. We remain committed to: ✅ Supporting pharmacy teams to refer and signpost people to the services they need ✅ Reducing stigma and promoting prevention ✅ Tackling inequalities and improving population health A massive thank you to all our partners for their dedication, collaboration, and shared commitment to improving health outcomes for our communities. #PublicHealth #PharmacyContraceptionService #HampshireCountyCouncil

  • ⚠️M27 closure this Christmas and New Year – plan ahead to avoid severe delays⚠️   Drivers are being advised to prepare for a full closure of the M27 between Junctions 9 (Whiteley) and 11 (Fareham) to allow for the installation of a new underpass, using an innovative box-slide technique, the first of its kind in the UK for a road connection.   This section of motorway will be closed in both directions from 8pm on Wednesday 24 December 2025 to 4am on Sunday 4 January 2026.   This one-off closure replaces months of disruption and will help deliver vital infrastructure to support future homes, jobs, and services.   ⚠️ The signed diversion route via the A27 is expected to be very busy, especially between 10am and 4pm daily. Severe delays are likely — please plan ahead, consider alternative travel options, and check full details before setting off.   Find out what’s happening and why this work is so important: https://lnkd.in/eCGya__g #M27J10Closure
