🏗 The construction industry is recognised as a high-risk area for modern slavery, making prevention and awareness vital to protecting workers and upholding ethical standards across the sector. Our Modern Slavery Response Service (MSRS) provides tailored awareness-raising training to help firms spot the signs, strengthen their policies, and build a culture of responsibility and care. We’re proud to have worked with GPE and Mace who are already taking proactive steps to raise awareness of #ModernSlavery within their supply chains. 👏 💬 Is your firm ready to take the next step in preventing modern slavery? Help make construction safer and fairer for everyone. 👉 Find out more and sign up for training: https://ow.ly/RoVm50XhGLC 👉 Find out about our modern slavery response team: https://ow.ly/OSns50XhGLE

At GPE, we recognise that the construction sector is one of the most at-risk industries in the UK for modern slavery. For Anti-Slavery Day last week, we brought this issue to the forefront - working with Hestia Charity, Mace, Multiplex, and Deconstruct (UK) Ltd to deliver talks to almost 200 people across our projects. The sessions provided practical guidance on identifying and addressing red flags that may indicate labour exploitation or other forms of modern slavery. Our commitment to minimising risk across our value chain continues year-round. A few weeks ago Alessia Bianco and I had the honour of attending London Fire Brigade Phoenix Event, which is their internal domestic abuse network. The theme was Empowerment Through Awareness. What an emotional, insightful and impactful day. On the day, Alessia and I delivered a session on myths and stereotypes and adding a domestic abuse lens. Over 100 attendees used Mentimeter to share their thoughts, sparking powerful and thought-provoking discussions in the room. Hestia Charity has now trained over 150 Domestic Abuse Ambassadors across the brigade, representing all levels. It was inspiring to speak with so many people eager to sign up and get involved. We were also joined by a range of sector partners who brought energy, resources, and insight, both at their stalls and during a brilliant panel discussion. (Including Anne Campbell Gunn from Three Nines Children’s Charity pictured). When we work together, we are a force for change.

🗒️ The Government has announced plans to repeal the presumption of parental involvement from the Children Act 1989. Research has shown that ‘assuming’ it’s always in a child’s best interest to have both parents involved can, in some cases, put children at risk and perpetuate abuse. 💙 This change comes after years of campaigning by Claire Throssell, whose sons were killed by their abusive father 11 years ago.
