  • There's a real tension in leadership right now: the fear of getting AI wrong vs. the fear of being left behind. We were lucky enough to unpack this with Martha Lane Fox during a brilliant in-office Q&A with Julia Shelley and our team. Martha's advice on finding the balance? The best way to manage both the risk and opportunity of AI is to get in it. To affect change, you need to be involved. The leaders who embrace this shift are the ones who will win. She also challenged leaders to put "people" on the boardroom agenda, and stop using "AI-first culture" as a buzzword. Because it's not enough to talk about the shift. You need a plan for how to get your people there. As she said, "AI has happened... It's foolish to fight the direction of travel". A huge thank you to Martha and Julia for such an insightful session 👏

  • Companies are spending billions on AI, but where are the productivity gains? In today’s Financial Times 'Working It' episode, Isabel Berwick and our CEO Euan Blair dig into why the AI rollout is still so "messy." The hard truth we’ll keep repeating: without training your people, you’ll be left with technology potential that never translates into practical gains. The winners won't be the biggest AI spenders. They'll be the ones with the most AI-enabled teams. You can watch the full video here → https://lnkd.in/e5CW3mGc

  • What role do AI and data skills have in improving the UK's defence? A critical one. These skills are no longer a "nice-to-have." They are essential for turning data into a strategic asset and enhancing support for the UK military. That's why we're proud to partner with VIVO Defence Services! VIVO is proactively future-proofing its workforce for this critical mission. As their Innovation Champion, Paul Roberts, puts it: "The data we collect is a strategic asset. Further enhancing the way we use this data and AI will benefit our customer - the UK military. This is all about our mission to play our part in enhancing the UK’s defence capability". This is exactly it. Turning skills into strategic impact.

VIVO has joined forces with upskilling platform Multiverse to offer its employees data and AI apprenticeships. VIVO is one of the largest providers of estate services to the UK Ministry of Defence, and the data we collect is very important to us. Skilling our workforce is critical to drive improved data insights and benefit from the tremendous potential that is presented by AI. Multiverse is delivering these apprenticeship programmes through applied online learning. Two different apprenticeships have now started – “Data and Insights for Business Decisions” and “AI for Business Value”. These apprenticeships also strengthen our commitment to provide career enhancing training and development opportunities for our employees. Currently, more than 85 people at VIVO are on apprenticeship programmes, they range in age from 18 to 59, and study courses across a wide variety of disciplines. #Military #Defence #DefenceCapability #Parternships #Data #ContinuousProfessionalDevelopment #CPD #FacilitiesManagement

  • You don't just need to hire AI experts. You need to build them. Mencap had to solve a critical challenge: 7,000 families needed urgent, complex answers. And they needed answers now. Mencap saw the promise of AI and upskilled its own people to innovate. One great example is Stephen Mansfield, Head of Public Fundraising, who took those new skills and built the solution himself. Swipe to see his inspiring story 👉

  • Today, we're turning the mic over to the other speakers from last week's Oxford Generative AI Summit. Alongside our founder, Euan Blair, they spoke about how the nation is wrestling with the AI revolution: → It's not just about the tech; it's about the people and the plan. As James Manyika from Google put it, you can't just drop an electric motor into a factory set up for steam. True AI integration requires rethinking how we work. → AI should be a tool that serves people. Professor Anoush Margaryan's point resonated: the goal is to empower your workforce with the right tools, not make them tools for the technology. → Let's make sure the future is evenly distributed. Kanishka Narayan MP, highlighted that to make the UK the leading AI adoption nation, we have to make it work for everyone. Our CEO, Euan Blair, summed up the challenge: many organisations are still playing catch-up with the last digital transformation. With AI, we have to get ahead. The conversation is moving fast. How are you preparing your team for the age of AI? #OXGEN25

  • You've probably seen it. That wave of generic, soulless AI output... AI slop. We’ve seen it too. But our learning science team has uncovered a powerful antidote. ‘Job crafting' is the key, not just to higher quality work, but also to something more surprising: Higher employee engagement 👀 So, you might ask, what’s job crafting? It’s changing the scope, nature and type of tasks that make up the meaning of your work. And when employees job craft, engagement soars. Why? Because it reframes AI from a tool for automation into a tool for agency. It means empowering your team to eliminate tedious work and focus on what inspires them. For too long, we've managed engagement from the top down. The data proves the future is about empowering it from the bottom up. You can read the full story in our blog. Link in comments👇
