Really insightful session today with the Department for Business and Trade, organized by the London AI Hub, Rupert Elston, Zarina Choudhari-Stewart to discuss the UK’s “AI Opportunities Action Plan.” 🇬🇧🤖 This initiative, launched in January 2025, aims to accelerate AI adoption and ensure the UK remains a global leader in artificial intelligence. The discussion was led by Nigel Winship, AI Technology Specialist at DBT, and Joshua Markert, Deputy Head of AI – Indo-Pacific. It was an engaging and open exchange about the opportunities and challenges we face as a nation to strengthen our leadership in AI. The room was filled with brilliant entrepreneurs sharing valuable insights and thought-provoking questions, a clear reflection of the UK’s vibrant AI ecosystem. The plan builds on 50 recommendations by Matt Clifford, designed to fuel economic growth, enhance public services, and boost productivity across industries. The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) are leading its implementation, a crucial step to ensure the UK remains at the forefront of global AI leadership. We also had the opportunity to learn more about the UK–India technology cooperation, through K.T. Rajan from the British Deputy High Commission Bengaluru, showcasing how international collaboration can drive innovation and trust in AI. 🌍 I also had the chance to visit the London AI Hub and witness firsthand the incredible energy of the community that Rupert Elston, Zarina Choudhari-Stewart, and their team are building. A growing and truly inspiring, a community to watch closely! At DataWhisper, we are proud to contribute to this momentum, building Safe AI and Agentic AI intelligence together to empower the next generation of financial and deeptech innovation. Over the past six months I’ve been spending more time immersing myself in all things AI (more on this soon). One of my favourite finds has been the London AI Hub. Great events. Awesome connections (👋🏻 Sumeet Vermani Shreyas Deshmukh David Altberg). Proper thought provoking stuff. Last nights AI and Future of Work Summit was exceptional. A showcase from six founders building super interesting businesses in so-called ‘boring’ spaces (e.g. compliance, accountancy, insurance) and insightful and passionate POVS from Husayn Kassai and Alexandra Depledge, MBE I feel a deep responsibility to understand how AI is going to impact how we work, live and thrive. Not only for myself, but also for how I help mentor and coach those around me who are entering the world of work today. Some key takeaways for me: 🔭 1️⃣ AI is fluent in patterns, but blind to perspective → Great for knowing facts, OK for processes (and getting better) not good at perspective. This is where the opportunity is for humans. 🧠 2️⃣ Left-brain only thinkers are f****d (probably) → AI can already outperform humans in environments rich in data, information and processes. Humans slow things down, make mistakes and inject emotion into fact-based decisions. ❤️ 3️⃣ Build your right-brain capacity to thrive in the AI world → Judgement, nuance, ethics, emotion, trust and care are the distinctive values humans can add to AI. We need to ensure our education and early career systems address this. 💎 4️⃣ Pyramids to Diamonds → Organisational hierarchies are going to disappear. Future ‘teams’ will consist of senior leaders, AI-fluent human managers and 100’s of agents (see attached great graphic on this). 🧑🏻🌾 5️⃣ The Rise of Agent “Farmers” → Knowing how to grow, feed, nurture and harvest from a ‘garden’ of agents is going to be a superpower. Those who master this have a clear role in the future. 🇬🇧 6️⃣ The role for the UK in global AI needs to be focused & specific → We need to pick spaces in which we can win. Opportunities exist in health, defence, legal and the creative industries. Key is to stop government ‘tinkering’ and flood these spaces with cash and talent

Founder & CEO Merantix Momentum, Founding Partner at Merantix Capital, WEF Digital Leader for Europe, Supervisory Board Member, Investor

Two cities, two conversations, one shared mission: empowering women who are shaping the future of AI. Last week, the Women’s AI Breakfast brought together inspiring voices in London AI Hub and Merantix AI Campus Berlin, each exploring a different side of what it means to build meaningful AI innovation. In #London, together with investors Dinika Mahtani (Cherry Ventures), Kelly Kung (Accel), and Kate McGinn (Seedcamp), the focus was on what truly sets the next generation of AI founders apart. Success comes from mastering both pace and perception knowing when to move, how to shape the story, and how to turn early proof points into lasting momentum. Founders who connect clear execution with a bold, credible vision earn the trust that fuels scale. In #BerlinMona Feder (doinstruct) and Maria Meier Endler (Acto) reflected on how AI can create real change in industries that are still early in their digital journey. Adoption grows when technology feels effortless and serves a purpose beyond the “AI” label. When users see value instantly and AI stays quietly effective in the background, transformation starts to take hold. The Women’s AI Breakfast has become a space where confidence grows, collaboration starts, and ambitious thinking turns into action. What began as a small gathering is evolving into a Europe-wide community of women who lead, build, and invest in AI. Each event adds new perspectives and momentum to a network that is redefining what leadership in this field looks like. Here’s to the next conversation, the next connection, and the next wave of ideas shaping the future of AI.

  • During this edition of the Women’s AI Breakfast series, we uncovered what investors look for in the next generation of AI founders.    This initiative by one of our founders – Merantix Group – aims to bring together women in AI for a high-quality knowledge exchange and networking in an informal setting. With over 30 breakfasts across Europe, and the latest edition happening at the Hub, we saw that take form first-hand. This month’s panel held key players Dinika Mahtani - Cherry Ventures, Kelly Kung - Accel, and Kate McGinn - Seedcamp, and was moderated by Nicole Büttner - Merantix Capital. The key takeaways were: ➡️ Fundraising velocity matters: Even if your metrics are strong, you can’t ignore the buzz competitors create when they raise. To avoid being seen as a “laggard” and stay top-of-mind, founders often raise earlier than planned. Timing and momentum can be as critical as performance. ➡️Win Enterprise Through Expansion: When pitching, map out how your initial, small-scale GTM success will enable internal FOMO within the customer's organisation. Use your product’s demonstrated ROI to expand into the larger mission-critical departments where the real money is. Investors look for founders who can clearly map that path and think big. ➡️ Backers Who Build Platforms: Successful VCs treat their portfolio companies as a productised resource. They build internal systems giving founders self-serve access to experts, C-suites, and operators. Choose a VC whose network delivers real, structured support, not just introductions. ⚡️Want to join this passionate and ambitious AI community? Sign up for our newsletter in the comments.
