  • Since the AI boom of 2021, it’s all everyone can talk about. And whether you’re pro or anti artificial intelligence in your personal or professional life – it’s clear that it’s playing a huge role in speeding up drug discovery in the world of life sciences. In our latest blog, we’re talking about three recent ways AI has made science fiction become reality: 🦠 Generative AI models aren’t just accelerating antibiotic discoveries; they’ve been able to create never-before-seen drugs that kill two of the most notoriously antibiotic-resistant bacteria on the planet. 📲 For the first time, scientists and researchers at Synchron have linked their brain-computer interface technology to an iPad, enabling a patient with ALS in a clinical study to control and navigate the device with nothing more than his thoughts. 🤖 An AI-powered, voice-controlled robot has performed an autonomous surgery on a lifelike patient, showcasing for the first time that surgical robotics can truly understand procedures themselves. Thank you to everyone who came to our Diversity in Life Sciences event in New York 😊 Last Friday, we hosted our second industry event about shaping a more inclusive future in life sciences. As touched on in our latest white paper, having diverse teams at the top level is vital for increasing innovation, productivity and overall performance in our rapidly evolving industry. Our brilliant speakers touched on a range of subjects relating to this, including: 🧬 How to build inclusive communities and initiatives that attract, retain and support people of color 🧬 Why underrepresented people don't appear as much in clinical trials and the steps needed to increase participation 🧬 The importance of having multiple mentors and advice on building a helpful network Thanks so much to Dr. Chardae Rodgers-Gamble, Dr Sabriya Stukes, PhD and Dr. W. Marcus Lambert for sharing their wisdom and insights on such a meaningful topic. #DiversityinLifeSciences #LifeSciencesForAll #DEI #Inclusivity

In honor of #NationalAnaphylaxisWeek in the UK, we wanted to look back to when we spoke to the incredible brains behind Kitt Medical. Zak Marks and James Cohen created their multi-award winning Anaphylaxis Kitt service in 2023 and have since been providing schools & qualifying businesses with emergency adrenaline pens, online CPD-accredited training, and incident reporting. We interviewed them on our #Affected podcast, where we discussed what anaphylaxis is and how to recognize its early signs. Zak also spoke of his own allergies and how his first reaction was a pivotal moment that shaped his discovery and understanding of allergic reactions. After winning approval on Dragons' Den (think UK version of Shark Tank) and receiving investment from Steven Bartlett, their kitts have created a new standard for allergy care. Head to the comments to watch the full podcast!
