Installers take what they can to survive but they are exhausted of being puppeteered by scheme changes. The newly published #ECO4 extension was supposed to protect continuity. Instead, my first read is it does the opposite. 🔎 An extension without new funds relies on utilities to “go early.” I’m hearing some might 🤞 — but most installers I speak with weekly say the same: - “I’m done with Eco” - “I’m reducing ECO as primary revenue” - “I’m moving into commercial work” It’s good business when it’s good. But the crash? Horrendous! When momentum can’t be sustained, supply chains collapse. And when that happens, it costs government more to entice firms back in (higher rates, rushed incentives). We have to stop this Boom then Bust. It’s a killer! #DesNz — the money is already allocated for a 5-year plan. The focus now should be confidence, not a limp forward. ⚠️ Especially when we’re staring down: • A workforce exodus • Collapsing supply chain confidence • The Warm Homes Plan launch just around the corner 💡 For installers and managing agents, this is about survival: • If work dries up, skilled teams vanish • If compliance remains a bottleneck, margins bleed • If we repeat the boom-and-bust cycle, there’ll be no capacity left when the scheme opens I’m new to this industry, but I’m here to fight the corner of every installer, managing agent and utility’s workforce out there. Even today in bbc, everyone gets tarnished with the failings of a small few in the market, the industry is losing reputation and customers are losing confidence. The answer generally in the UK is to layer more governance, tougher processes, and apply more scrutiny at the auditing layer - creating larger defences, and more inspections at the end of the process. This Guess what? That means more cost is absorbed to process and compliance vs the install. More costs are applied to the installer. Less money at the install level = cutting corners = less quality.
