Metallic pipelines have benefited from over a century of codified integrity management, but for #nonmetallic pipelines, the picture is very different. In our latest article, we explore: • Why established tools like don’t transfer easily to #composites? • How rigid and flexible non-metallics face very different integrity challenges. • Early industry attempts, from digital traceability to drone #inspection, that hint at the way forward. Flexpipe, Imantt, and Fibron Pipe GesmbH. • The missing links that still prevent a unified framework. • And how a roadmap, supported by platforms like NmeX, can help close the integrity gap. Non-metallics offer huge advantages, but without a clear path to #integrity management, adoption will remain limited.

Thermoplastics vs. Thermosets, what it means for #nonmetallic pipes? Not all “#plastic” #pipes behave the same. Here’s the quick way we explain it to customers: #Thermoplastics (Most FCPs) Long polymer chains that solidify by cooling. Reheat them and they soften again, so they’re weldable. #Thermosets (RTRs) Short chains that crosslink during cure into a 3D network. Once cured, they stay rigid when heated, no melting, offering excellent dimensional stability and chemical/temperature resistance. Where each shines? Thermoplastics: distribution networks, water/wastewater, many chemical services where flexibility and speed of installation matter. Thermosets: higher-temperature or aggressive services, long straight runs needing stiffness. Both are #corrosion-resistant alternatives to #steel, the right choice depends on your temperature, chemical exposure, pressure, and installation method. Curious which fits your application? #RTR #RTP #FCP #GRE #GRV #FRP #Oilandgas #H2 #Energy #pipeline
