Two months after opening Chicago’s first public outdoor squash court in Union Park, the verdict is in: squash outdoors works – and it inspires. 🌍 This week, members of the PSA's Sustainability Committee attended the Sport Positive Summit in London! As proud signatories of the Sports for Climate Action pledge, we’re always looking to learn from others across the sports industry who are driving meaningful environmental change. The summit brought together professionals from across the sporting world — with inspiring case studies from Sport England, the J.LEAGUE - Japan Professional Football League, and The Professional Cricketers' Association, as well as innovative initiatives such as Eve Joseph’s Clean Water Sports Alliance. Representing the PSA were Stephanie Davidson and Tabitha Walker from our Sustainability Committee, alongside Gabrielle Maguire, who advises the PSA on sustainability matters. Together, they gained valuable insights and inspiration to help strengthen our ongoing efforts. The event concluded with an insightful discussion on sport’s role in the global climate agenda ahead of COP30 Brazil — an exciting moment for our industry. 💡 Sustainability at the Professional Squash Association 💡 What does sustainability look like in sport? For us at the PSA Group – and as a proud signatory of the UN Climate Change Sports for Climate Action Framework – 2024 looked like this: ✅ A sell-out Squash Summit, organised by the Squash United Foundation (SUF), that brought together leaders from 23 countries to shape a more inclusive, sustainable future for our game. ✅ 1,934 squash items re-homed through the SUF's ReBound initiative, giving communities from Nigeria to Colombia the chance to play. ✅ A carbon-negative squash court prototype, built from Tesco-supplied waste plastics, proving that sport can lead on innovation. ✅ Small but powerful shifts at HQ, like removing 20+ under-desk bins, which sparked a culture of recycling and behaviour change. ✅ Internal Sustainability Committee established with expert guidance from Gabrielle Maguire, embedding climate action into governance and decision-making. We’re proud of these steps – but prouder still of the momentum they create.
