Support pours in for ATC staff as industry marks International Day of the Air Traffic Controller The International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations published a statement offering its “unwavering support and solidarity to colleagues of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA), who continue to endure the unacceptable impacts of the ongoing US federal government shutdown.” Around 13,000 controllers and 50,000 Transportation Security Administration officers must work during the current government shutdown without pay. Embraer begins construction of MRO facility at Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport The USD 70 million state-of-the-art hangar, which will be used for maintenance on Embraer’s commercial jets, is due to open by 2027. Manchester Airport prepares for strike action while industrial action at London Gatwick has been called off Immigration services workers at London Gatwick have called off a strike following an improved pay deal. Unite secured a 6% pay deal for workers backdated to April 2025. ATC failures disrupt operations for Airlink at multiple South African airports According to Airlink, the disruptions are a result of the failure of South Africa's Air Traffic Navigation Services (ATNS) to maintain the validity of those airports’ instrument flight procedures (IFPs). “Airlink is doing everything possible to get customers to their intended destinations as quickly as possible with the minimum inconvenience.” said Airlink’s CEO, de Villiers Engelbrecht.
