We are pleased to announce that Dean O. has been appointed as CEO for Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland. Dean will lead the business as we commence an ambitious Strategic Plan – Lead & Grow, unveiled by the Saint-Gobain Group on Monday, and continue to pursue our vision to be the Worldwide Leader in Light & Sustainable Construction. The new, Lead & Grow plan, commits the Group to three key objectives: becoming a Solutions Company - delivering solutions for buildings and infrastructure that combine sustainability and performance; be the go-to partner for customers and stakeholders outperform the market. Dean has an exceptional track record in Saint-Gobain, joining the Group in Gyproc Ireland in 2007, before leading the UK businesses of Okarno, Isover UK and British Gypsum. During his recent leadership of Isover UK & British Gypsum Dean led British Gypsum to become one of the first UK brands to have products carry the Code for Construction Product Information Mark, launch a partnership with The Pallet LOOP to introduce a circular economy for its pallets and launch the first plasterboard in Europe to be manufactured with 100% recycled gypsum. Dean said: “It’s a great privilege to lead Saint-Gobain’s businesses in the UK & Ireland at a time when we release a new strategy that positions Saint-Gobain as a true solutions provider for customers. Saint-Gobain is truly a unique company. With an unrivalled breadth of solutions for the entire building industry, deep expertise made so special by an amazing 360-year history, and strong values of care, respect and doing the right things.” Dean takes over the CEO role from long-standing CEO, Mike Chaldecott who announced his retirement and will continue in the business to support the transition. Mike has been a tremendous ambassador for Saint-Gobain – passionate about our people and their safety, and getting things right for our customers. Mike’s huge commitment to Saint-Gobain spanning 42 years – from graduate at our Kirkby Thore plant in Cumbria to CEO – is an amazing achievement and everyone at Saint-Gobain sends him great wishes for the future.

In July, as part of our Nature Fund, we began to collaborate with Grange Farm Primary School in Coventry to help them make the most of their green spaces and Forest School, which were sadly becoming unusable due to flooding. Lots of work has taken place over the summer holidays and we want to share an update with you all! But first, if you need a recap on the project and the Nature Fund, click here: https://bit.ly/3Uuocfw 📹 ) Thanks to the Nature Fund, an outdoor classroom shelter has been built and the children have begun to make the most of it already (thanks to the rainy british weather) 🌧️ One of the particularly flood-hit areas was the playing field, which now has proper drainage channels built into it. Once the grass has grown, it'll be usable for the majority of the school year, rather than the two or three months it was previously 👏 Unusually for a school in the city, Grange Farm Primary School has a large forest area at the bottom of its grounds, creating homes for lots of wildlife species and providing an enhanced learning experience for the children as they explore this biodiverse environment. However, due to its size, it was difficult to manage and quickly becoming overgrown. Over the summer, the woodland area was cleared of brambles and self-setting trees, preparing for new trees to be planted in autumn, allowing it to continue to thrive and embrace the wildlife its currently home to 🐞 We're looking forward to continuing to see the benefit this has on the school, as well as the finished project in 2026, so stay tuned for more updates as the academic year continues! 🙌

🔎 165,312 screws. That’s how many hold together the Triodos Bank headquarters in the Netherlands. But more importantly: that’s how many can be unscrewed, tracked, and reused. This is not just a quirky statistic, it’s a symbol of a silent revolution in sustainable construction: circularity. When every single component is designed for a second life, buildings stop being wasted at the end of their cycle. They become material banks for future projects. That’s the story behind the very first episode of Figure Out, the new video series that deciphers sustainable construction through striking numbers, in 2 minutes. 🎥 Watch the video here: https://bit.ly/3VMFBAT 📩 Subscribe to Constructing Sustainable Future, the leading international media platform on sustainable construction: https://bit.ly/3IBeh5J 📩

Last week, it was great to see Fosroc at Alliance Industry Day, organised by the Structural Concrete Alliance at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. 🤝 The event brought together expert insights, discussions, and innovations on the latest challenges in concrete infrastructure. Fosroc showcased how their CarbonNeutral® certified products are helping to shape a sustainable future-from asset preservation to durable, long-lasting construction solutions. With speakers led by Chris Wozencroft (Corrosion Engineering), the programme was dynamic and insightful throughout the day. Fosroc were proudly flying the flag for Saint-Gobain Construction Chemicals, making this a great opportunity not just for the brand, but for the wider Saint-Gobain group as they highlighted our shared commitment to sustainable innovation, collaboration, and leadership across the construction sector. 🙌
