This came up as a question in the recent SCTE ® (the Society for Broadband Professionals) Presents event on TV to IP (https://lnkd.in/gPHHtbyM)... Worst case scenario EU power regulations apply, but best case is that app providers use a variety of triggers to check if you are still watching. The balance, as always, depends on what you are watching, because I always remember the scramble for the remote when the 'standby' popup happened towards the end of those long drawn out Tennis matches...
